WT6300 - Android 10 Profile

Solved

SOTI Version: 15.4.2.1020 and Agent Version 15.3.0 build 1006

Android 10 device are not registering as enterprise work managed.

The method I use is to wipe the device and enter when prompted for a google account on device setup, insert AFW#mobicontrol and then register my portal address.

This works for android 11, for Android 10 it doesn’t te profile registers as corporate personal? do you know how I can change the profile to enterprise work managed?

I would manually upgrade the devices to 11 however I have a large amount to upgrade.

I do not recommend that enrollment method for Zebra Android devices in SOTI. StageNow based enrollment is the recommended method for Zebra devices as it is the least number of steps (1-3 total barcode scans) and it also results in all system apps remaining enabled post enrollment.

Here for example is a Zebra VC devices enrolled using afw#mobicontrol:

Compared with one enrolled via StageNow. I've blurred the non-system apps that are installed on the device but you can still see a pretty significant difference in what is left enabled post enrollment via StageNow compared with afw#mobicontrol.

Hello Jag,

Thank you all for posting on SOTI Pulse, and sorry for the delay.

As per SOTI Help page for version 15.4, regardless of the type of enrollment: Corporate or Work Managed, if your devices were previously active, you do need to factory reset your devices prior to enrollment.

Android Enterprise Work Managed (From SOTI MobiControl Help v 15.4)

Android Enterprise Corporate Personal (From SOTI MobiControl Help v 15.4)

Once done, as mentioned by Zebra Technologies itself, using afw#mobicontrol will remove many of you system applications upon enrollment:

When enrolling your Zebra Android device into SOTI MobiControl using Google's hastag afw#mobicontrol, the only apps that will be available after provisioning is the mandatory app according to Google CDD (Android Compatibility Definition Document) such as Play Store.

Enable StageNow Application in Android Devices (From Zebra Technologies)

Android Compatibility Definition Document (CDD) (From Source.android.com)

As mentioned by Matt, to get better control over your devices, it is recommended to use StageNow to enroll your devices, or QR Code by using an online generator.

As per your question regarding upgrading multiple device OS, you can use StageNow or SOTI by creating a File Sync Rule and use as post-script sendinent command (see Zebra's link) or  the following script (Shown below):

Performing an OS Update Using StageNow Tool or SOTI MobiControl (From Zebra)

Using StageNow to Enroll Your Device into SOTI as a Device Owner with a JSON File. (From Zebra)

Note: Please try this in one test device, before implementing such changes to you entire production environment.

Thank you.
