600 devices to enroll - Fails

Hi All,

We have 600 brand new Samsung Galaxy A14 devices. I need to enroll them in SOTI like all our other devices however are not having much luck. We have staged these device types before with no issues however we are having a great deal of trouble at the moment.

Issue;

When we scan a QR code generated via Stage Programmer app the device will show "Getting your device ready..."  or   "Just a sec..."  this will sit for 3 - 5 minutes before finally showing only a white screen with a little black arrow bottom left hand corner.

When you press this arrow you only have a reset device option and nothing more.

Resolution attempts;

I've tried pointing the device to different WIFI networks / using cellular / using different enrolment ID's / enrolment direct URL / using no enrolment what so ever.

Any help here would be appreciated

Thanks

When you use that mechanism for enrollment it attempts to download the latest SOTI Agent from the Google Play Store. Do your devices have access to the Play Store from the network that they're connected to?

Another possibility is the devices do have access to the Play Store but the Play Store is currently busy or experiencing issues. I have seen this impact staging devices before.

You could try creating a custom QR code manually and specifying an external link to download the Agent such as directly from the SOTI downloads website.

The devices are in the initial setup screen so the "welcome" screen. Here we press the screen 6 times to prompt a the device to setup using a QR code enrollment.

I have a feeling the issue is coming from the google play store.

How would I go about creating this custom QR code that can be used from the Welcome screen

You can scan the QR into a document to see the content which should look like this:
{
"android.app.extra.PROVISIONING_DEVICE_ADMIN_SIGNATURE_CHECKSUM":"hn8mSNJMPcovWbnnWrb-uMpWZjNlNp-jyV_2A-Whumc=",
"android.app.extra.PROVISIONING_DEVICE_ADMIN_COMPONENT_NAME":"net.soti.mobicontrol.androidwork/net.soti.mobicontrol.admin.DeviceAdminAdapter",
"android.app.extra.PROVISIONING_DEVICE_ADMIN_PACKAGE_DOWNLOAD_LOCATION":"https://downloads.soti.net/apk/AEAgent/GoogleMobiControl1532_1042.apk",
"android.app.extra.PROVISIONING_WIFI_SSID":"ABC",
"android.app.extra.PROVISIONING_WIFI_SECURITY_TYPE":"WPA",
"android.app.extra.PROVISIONING_WIFI_PASSWORD":"PASSWORD",
"android.app.extra.PROVISIONING_USE_MOBILE_DATA":true,
"android.app.extra.PROVISIONING_SKIP_ENCRYPTION":true,
"android.app.extra.PROVISIONING_ADMIN_EXTRAS_BUNDLE":
{
"enrollmentId":"ID",
"PROVISIONING_MODE":"FULLY_MANAGED_DEVICE"
}
}

And then you could change it and recreate the QR.
To check if there's an issue with google play, try to enroll using DPC idnetifier (afw#mobicontrol) to enroll it instead of QR. If this works, there shouldn't be an issue to Google play.

HI ShaunT,

Thank you for posting on SOTI Pulse!

Were you able to enroll the device by creating QR Code? If yes, feel free to mark the post that help you resolve the issue as Solution. If not, let us know the error that you are receiving and we would try to help you resolve the issue.

You can also create QR Code using the link below.

Hi Shaun,

I hope you're not expecting to be able to use RemoteControle on all the Samsung Galaxy A14 devices because this doesn't work correctly.. Seems that the A14 is not KNOX anymore never the less the A13 was.. So what you need to install is the generic plugin and do 8 manual handlings and then you're able to take over the client if he accepts this..
