Filter is no longer valid & App Policys not longer working

Hi,

We currently have two problems in Soti:

1. apps are no longer displayed on the devices in the Mobicontrol internal app catalogue. The app policies are still there and active.

When I go to a device and click on the "Configurations" tab, the "App Policies" only load continuously, but nothing is listed. It affects all of our devices.
Otherwise, the devices work properly the last months.

The devices run Android 9-12, are all Android Enterprise and are connected to the Managed Google Play account. So everything is actually the same as always and as it has been for the last few months.

Search Index Sync is also fine.

Reboot of the Server did not help either.

2.
During tests, I started to deactivate some app policies. These can no longer be activated if I set a special filter.
These filters were active for many months.
We have the CustomAttribute "Office 365?". If this is set to "Yes", the app policy is assigned to Office.
As you can see here in the screenshot, it was always set. Now I can no longer save the filter and activate the app policy again

But the custom attribute is a boolean custom attribute?
Also try to remove the filter and directly (before saving!) create it again?

Yep, it´s a boolean.

Just strange...

I can only save the assignment if no filters are set. As soon as I set the filter to O365 I get the error message and I can't continue.

Creating a new test app policy will be the same:
Filter is no longer valid. Cannot assign due to invalid filter, to keep previous filter do not assign. A new filter can be created if needed.

Your filter say if Office365 is set to false it should be assigned, is that correct? I would expect it to be assigned if set to true?

But also then i would just expect it saying targeting 0 or other amount of devices.

I have tried both, with false and true and it turns out the same way.

I also tried different filter based on other custom attributes but there is no difference

Is your MobiControl server an on-premises or a cloud instance?

What are the version and build numbers of your MobiControl server? Has it been upgraded in the last few months?  If so,  what were the  version and build numbers before  the upgrade?

Could you confirm if app policy deployment without using filter works perfectly fine?  Have you tried adding a new filter and see if app deployment works as before?

This is an on-premise environment. We currently have version version: 2024.0.1.1020
in use since around the beginning of March. Before that, I think we had 15.6.1 installed.

Unfortunately, I don't know if the problem has occurred since the update because I haven't had to deploy any new apps since then and existing devices had all apps installed. I have now noticed in another Soti call that the app policies are not listed in the client overview. I also wanted to install a new device and wondered why no apps were installed or listed in the app catalogue.

I added a new app policy again, without a filter, but it didn't work either.

So the main problem is that we can no longer distribute any apps and they are no longer listed in the App Catalog on the client and are also not displayed in the web console. The problem with the filter is secondary for now.

If your on-premises MobiControl server has recently been upgraded, then it is possible that some improper upgrade procedure has caused damage to the database, or the new version has bug(s) related to deployment using filter expression.   Tests done on my MC v2024.1.0.1052 demo server showed that package & profile deployed using filter work fine.  Unfortunately, I currently do not have any MC v2024.0 server to perform any test.

Maybe you can open a support case at support@soti.net to confirm if the problem is specific to your current MobiControl server version.

The short version: Together with Soti Support, we have apparently been able to solve the case.
Our custom attributes are causing the problems. As soon as an app policy has configured a filter with these attributes, it no longer works. Newly created filters with new custrom attributes work.
