Managed Web App (single site)

Solved

I am trying to setup Google Chrome to access a singular site on a Mobicontrol Android tablet.

I found this page in my searching, SOTI Discussion Forum  - and I got the URL entered.

However, on the tablet, in the App Catalog, Google Play store (which isn't how I want it shown, but that's another matter), it says "This item isn't available".

Hi John,

i would recommand that you configure Soti "Surf".

You must add "Soti Surf" to your Google Play Store Policy & Mandatory.

Configuration over a Profile - there you have many Posibilitys.

Works as best wenn the device is Work manged Enrolled as Android Enterprise.

Are oyu running the Device in a Kiosk Mode ?

Eventually the Web App got installed and appears to be working.

The next step (which I've reached out to support for), is to get it visible inside our SOTI launcher (I'm not really sure what to call it).  We tried using kiosk mode, but the wireless options were too limiting (we couldn't disable/re-enable, etc - these particular tablets have issues staying connected for some reason).

The web-App has to be deployed via managed playstore and set it to mandatory then.
(I didn't try if you can extract this as an apk but i think it's not an apk-app provided and acts different)

If it's installed on one of your devices, you can lookup the bundleid of this webapp and assign this to your lockdown profile.
That should work, even i never tried this with an web-app. It could be also be possible that you need to add chrome also to the lockdown profile (maybe as an hidden element) because the web-app is always only something like a stand-alone chrome-tab.

I'll need to work with support I believe to get the product where I need it to be.  I was successful by using the link above to get the web page as app to work.

Chrome was not initially designed as a secure browser configurable for sophisticated business use.  Despite the hundreds of configurable parameters currently available for managed configuration,  lots of configurable features possible for Soti Surf secure browser are still not available.

If you still have problem struggling with Chrome to have your web-app properly deployed securely and according to your user-interface requirements, maybe you can consider trying out Soti Surf.   I have recently mentioned some useful options worth considering in another thread of this forum at

It's working as intended, it just took longer than expected to apply.  SOTI support was very helpful in getting the lock-down configured.

Maybe you could provide and describe what your solution now finally is and mark it as the "solution" so all know this topic is closed and future users which may have the same issue and search for it can see result.
