Mobicontrol Cloud, Android Plus Alert Rule for every device enrollment

I am looking for the best way to get an email alert each time a device is enrolled.  We have devices returning from depot service from a shared spare pool.  This means that I must delete/unenroll my damaged device before sending to depot, because I will not always be getting the same device back from depot.  It is possible that a previously used and now repaired device will return from depot at a later time.

I tried using the "Add new device" Event from the Alert Rule wizard, which covers the new device (that's never been enrolled with MobiControl) scenario.  The problem is this method does not alert me if a device that has been previously enrolled is re-enrolled.  I need both to work.

As a workaround, we have applied a single profile to devices and are using a "Profile installed" Event to send email alerts to appropriate teams.  This is not ideal, as we are sending a useless package just for the sake of an alert rule.

Can anyone help me with a more simplified alert process that is triggered every time a device is enrolled?

Hello Josh,

Can you tell me more about how you un enroll the devices?   Do they get factory reset?  Are they just deleted from your MobiControl Console or fully unenrolled and the licenses revoked from the devices before sending to the depot?  Is there a requirement to have the devices return to the folder location they were previously enrolled in?

I would say that this could be a focus to getting the feature to work as you expect, using the same Alert Rule "Add new device".  If the devices are recognized as new enrollments then the alert may work as expected.

There may be other ways but this may be the least complex to implement.

The devices are coming from a manufacturer pool, so they will be factory reset.  It's basically a one to one swap of devices.  This means that I have to revoke my license / delete the old device that is being returned to have the license available for the new device.

As I stated, the Add new device rule works as expected when enrolling a device for the first time.  When I tested removing, wiping and readding a device to Soti, I did not receive the email alert as expected.  Due to business practices relying on the email alert, to tell internal team members that a device is shipping, and depot personnel that the device is configured to an acceptable level, we must have 100% accuracy on the Alert Rule.

After consideration, I believe we are going to continue to leverage the Profile installed rule that we are using for this specific scenario.  However, for future deployments, it would be nice to see a "Device Enrollment Successful" alert rule added to the canned list of alert rules in Soti Cloud.
