Hi,

We are planning to upgrade our MobiControl installation. We curently have the MobiControl databases on a standalone SQL server which has other production databases. Since the database user must be a SysAdmin or a DbCreator for the upgrade process to complete, we have concerns that the upgrade process might affect in some way the other databases or the SQL server itself (stop/start). If anybody already successfully went through such upgrade scenario, please share.

Just go ahead. The installation program will only change the MobiControl database that you specify (default name is "MobiControlDB").  Other databases in that SQL server will remain untouched.

Thanks. The upgrade worked. However something to keep in mind for folks that opted to host MobiControlDB on a standalone server - make sure that the server's "Default backup media retention" option is set to 0. Otherwise the upgrade will fail when it tries to do consecutive backup of the temp migration database. Our server had that value set to 7. The default value is 0 so unless your DBA changed it it will be fine.
