Lock Down - Kiosk Browser

Hi,

Does anyone know which browser the Lock Down - Kiosk browser uses?  This is the "https://" option when adding a screen item.  This seem to have the affect of make the web page full screen however, we noted that performance on the web pages is very poor in comparison to using Chrome driectly or the "Browsers://" option.

Is there anyway to replicate the full screen without using "https://"

Thanks

Hi Nagel,

You can add a package for soti surf to your Lockdown screen. Then, add Soti Surf configuration, where you can specify home page, and limit other features of the browser.

Thanks, we'll try that.

Is performance issues a known issue using this full screen Kiosk?

If you use Managed Google Play account you can also provide a web-app, where you can choose how the web-app should behave:

That looks interesting.   We do in indeed use a Google managed account. The UI on the screenshot you provided looks very different to ours.  Where do you see that?

This is what ours looks like:

The screenshot is from (Mobicontrol 15.6.5):

Policies -> Apps -> + add new app policy -> Android enterprise -> apps -> + -> managed google play -> web apps (World icon) -> +

If created and distributet to your device, you can add it as a homescreen icon by its bundle id like a normal app (launch://)

Hi Rafael,

Really weird, when I add it this way I get the same performance issues....

But these web links are just a dedicaded chrome tab and as you said, directly in chrome it works well there must be something else slowing down the performance in this case.

Do you use the latest chrome version (or maybe a quite old one)?
You could check if theres something like that triggering the performance issues. But be aware to do this on a test device as you may not able to downgrade chrome again because you dont have the relevant apk file and need a wipe and reinstallation of the device to get back to your "default" version.
