Changing the default web browser in Windows Modern Lockdown kiosk?

Hi,

I cant solve this can anyone help?

I am running SOTI to manage a Windows 10 terminal. I have the device locked using the Lockdown option as I need the end users to navigate to just a couple of specific URL's. This works fine until I open the item on the kiosk home screen and it wont load correctly. (See screen shots below)

I have narrowed this down to it opening the URL with the default browser which is not correctly loading the website. How do I force the URL to be opened in a modern browser such as edge or chrome?

To confirm the website is active a we have no errors or issues connection outside of the SOTI kiosk / Lockdown config.

Even i don't manage windows devices with Soti yet, according to the infotext you showed up here i would expect it like this in the kiosk item:

C:\path\to\chrome.exe,"url"

Or you should set it directly in the registry (an example which entrys maybe are needed can be downloaded here: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/set-chrome-default-browser-windows-8#google_vignette) but be aware of testing it a lot.

But your error message shown points more likely to a network restriction issue. So does this provided link outside of the kiosk mode?

To run MS Edge browser to access your specific URL, you can first test if the following command can achieve what you want on your target device when deployed with "Send script" device action from the web-console:

     start shell:AppsFolder\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe!MicrosoftEdge https://byworth-uat1.sandbox.operations.dynamics.com

If so,  you can then try testing the use of the same command (with syntax adjusted according to the pop-up information as shown in your own screenshot)  in your Window lockdown menu item.

Hi Matt,

Thank you for posting on SOTI Pulse!

As Rafel/Raymond mentioned above, you can call a different browser by adding the file path to the applications executable and adding the URL of the web page alongside.

Let us know if this can work for you!

Kind regards,
