App stays disabled when rebooting while in lockdown

Solved

Hello,

When a device enters lockdown I lose the ability to use the nfc scan. To solve this issue I have added 'com.android.nfc' to the lockdown profile's home screen items.

This works like a charm, until the device is restarted while in lockdown mode. When the device boots up again it loses the ability to use the nfc scan. As a work around I have turned off kiosk and turned it back on again. This works, until the next time the device is rebooted.

This work around is not desirable to say the least.

Is anyone familiair with this issue?

Do you have a Feature Control Profile applied to the devices? Is NFC enabled in that Profile?

You may also need to add the Bluetooth Pairing utility to the lockdown. It's possible NFC is enabled but the Bluetooth Pairing utility might be disabled by your lockdown.

Yes, there is a Feature Controle Profile applied. The only NFC related setting I can find in there is "Allow Outgoing NFC" (is that possible?). Which is turned off. But according to its description it's for sending data, and my devices only need to receive data (I.E. read badges).

I haven't tried enabling the Bluetooth Pairing utility as well, but I don't see how it comes into play when reading badges using NFC.

My assumption was that you were using NFC for Bluetooth tap to pair which is why I was suggesting the Bluetooth Pairing utility as its used for that purpose. If you are using NFC to scan badges then the NFC setting in your Feature Control Profile might be where you should look. Feature Control is activated when the device is in user mode / lockdown which matches your problem description of this problem only really existing when in lockdown.

After testing it over the weekend, it seems that turning ON "Allow Outgoing NFC" in combination with adding the android NFC app to the lockdown profile has fixed my issue.

Thank you for the help Matt!
