iOS - Google chrome (managed) trouble

Solved

I've followed the steps, create google admin account to manage google chrome (free)

generate browser enrollment token, copy and save xml file

created a separate app profile, add google chrome, go to managed tab and this is where I'm stuck.  it says to upload the xml file but its just a text box.  I tried to open the xml file and copy the contents and paste it into the txt box but it keeps coming back as "will only accept xml" and graying out the save button.

This is the only thing I can get it to let me save (removed token for security) but I can't tell if that is right because it didn't seem to change anything on my test device.

it turned out either I didn't give it enough time or the trick is to if chrome was already installed to remove and re add it and it forced it to grab the info it needed right away.  the site blocking works and the managed bookmarks work but it still prompts for the user to sign in to chrome even though I told it not to but thats not as big of a deal as the site blocking and bookmarks.

What are the version and build numbers of your MobiControl server?   As this managed configuration feature has been around for very long time, the chance that it doesn't work in your particular server version should be quite low.

I used similar format as yours in my quick reconfirmation test for MC v2024.1 a moment ago, and could successfully configure the managed bookmarks in the deployed mandatory managed "Chrome" app on a targeted iPAD as shown in the diagrams below

Your managed configuration xml syntax looks fine.  However, whether the token you used is acceptable is another issue.  Check official documentation from Google Chrome on managed configuration parameter "CloudManagementEnrollmentToken" and related parameters/usage condition(s).  Make sure the app binary version in the supported range as documented.

Hi Patrick,

Under normal circumstance, it is NOT recommended to remove and then reinstall the app to get any new/updated managed configuration(s) deployed on target device.  This will cause ALL app private data removed from App sandboxed folder on the device file system.

If you want almost instantaneous update of any new/updated managed configuration on deployed devices, please make sure that you enable the option "Update Devices that Have Already Been Configured" in the "Managed App Configuration" tab of the app of interest in the Apps policy of Apple device platform.   This ensure IN-PLACE upgrade of the deployed app without removing ANY existing app private data (especially all those NOT related to managed-configurations) already stored in the device file system.
