Windows Classic - Disable Lock Down

Hi,

maybe a simple question. But is there an option to leave or deactivate the lock down mode
on a windows machine?

MC version: 15.1.2.1035
Windows agent version: 15.1.2.32

For example:

My windows device (10, classic) doesn't connect to my MC server. When that happens i just
disconnected the connection within the windows agent and reconnected it again. That works
for me. Sometimes the agent is not listed in the system tray but a restart helps sometimes.

But when i am in a lock down mode i have no access to the system tray to start the agent for
disconnecting and connecting.

So is there a way to disable the lock down like on android devices?

A little information about my lock down profile:

  • File explorer is allowed
  • driver C:\ is completely blocked/disabled (used a script to set registry entry)
  • Template is almost like the default windows classic template

Thank you!

I believe there is not sufficient information provided by the document suggested by DJMOD@SOTI.

I have no time to test, nor are my customers interested in Windows Classics platform any more.  However, I believe you likely need to use script command "writeprofstring" with the right argument to achieve what you want.

Once the required script command(s) is/are found, you can deploy the script file in your preferred device folder, and reference the file with a script:// kiosk item in the lockdown profile payload.

I checked the documentation and couldn't find anything useful.

My goal is to find a way to disable the classic lockdown on my windows device. I was hoping to find
a way like on android tablets where you enter a passcode to leave the lockdown.

It happens a few times that the device don't want to reconnect with the MC server. That means i am
not able to move the devices out of his lockdown. Means it is stuck in the lockdown "for ever". The only
solution is to hard reset the device or worst case scenario to switch the hard drive. So i need a solution
or way to leave the lockdown for "lost" devices who stuck in the lockdown.

@Raymond:
I am not sure if we are able to run a script or deploy a script somewhere in the device folder because
of the disabled access to the C:\ hard drive.

Hi Ozan,

After checking with the product team, we currently have a feature request under development for Windows CE devices to enable/disable kiosk mode using scripts.

If this is a priority to you we recommend you create a support ticket with SOTI VIA Support@soti.net, so that your use case can be added to the development of the feature request.

Hopefully, you find this information helpful.
