Profile Installation Options - Android Enterprise

Hi All,

from time to time i have devices that pull their profile / app updates etc. whilst being in use i.e. using wlan or lte , although profile installation is set to ethernet / lan only.

Is this corellated to the device update schedule, so is mobicontrol only taking into account the latest known status of the device and not doing a check-in before trying to install the profile?

I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Hi John,

Thank you for posting in SOTI Central.

Ultimately, the Android Agent will keep a persistent connection with MobiControl. This is through a pulse message being sent every 60 seconds by default to ensure the device is online. Then according to the Update Schedule, devices will perform a full check-in. This usually occurs every 2 hours by default.

Profile Updates / Deployments are directly correlated to the Update Schedule (check-ins). Also regarding Profile Installation itself, if you set a network restriction to enforce WiFi for example then it'll use WiFi and shouldn't use LTE for example.

Let me know if I can clarify anything or if you have any questions regarding this.

Regards,

I got the Profile Installation Option set to "Lan only" but some devices keep installing updates whilst using wifi connection.

How is that happening was my question?

Is it because the Connection status of the device is only updated when its performing a check in?

Hi John ,

Following upon this email thread, This would require further troubleshooting and need to check the logs to land on solution. Please raise a support case(click here) or call SOTI Support team(click here) for assistance.

As per the following example : If you set a network restriction to enforce Wi-Fi for example then it'll use WiFi and shouldn't use LTE.

Hello.

i logged a case because it is set to "LAN" only and devices sync either when connected via wifi or even with lte from time to time.
