MobiControl won't push wifi profile when I am on Wifi - seems only when I am docked (ETH)

Solved

Hi,

I recently updated to MobiControl 15.6 and tried to push a new Wireless Profile - just added proxy to it.

I have units connected to wifi using another profile (so connection is good) and my newly created wireless profile just won't push, hangs on pending install... I did remove the old one first and I confirmed it's removed from units.

I then looked closer and the only units that got the new profile installed were ones that were connected via ethernet (docked) and not wifi.

Is there a new rule that says wireless profiles can't be pushed unless the unit is connected via a wire?

Thanks for any help or thoughts

NOTE: It's Enterprise Work Managed Device and the profile is Android PLUS and Android 9 device.

I have not seen behavior like that before, where an existing WiFi configuration prevents the configuration of a new configuration. Are you adding the proxy to a configuration for the same existing SSID that the device is already configured for or connected to, or is it a new SSID?

Also you mention Andoid Plus, but can you confirm that the Type is Android Enterprise. Confusingly both Classic (DA) and Android Enterprise Work Managed (DO) both show as Android Plus Family, but are differentiated by type. It is probably correct if it has installed on some devices and is even showing pending status on others, but still worth verifying that you have the right Profile Type.

Also check to see you don't have any network restrictions in the Profile installation criteria:

Matt,

Thank you so much! This was it. Sorry I missed this. Something I should always keep in mind now.

Appreciate the hint.

Thanks,

Hi Chad,

what kind of security you are using?

We have a case open at Soti that currently (for us only on one specific model) if we push a wifi profile using certificates says installed but isn't (even certificates are also included in the profile and authentication is set as well).

But a normal Wifi profile using SSID and Password for authentication works fine.

But i think the last post from Matt shows most promising.
