In app sounds dont play at all

In our driver app, our drivers hear notification sounds for tight turns and other dangerous parts in the neighborhoods.
We are using Soti as a trial now on 1 location and we see that these notifications don't play.
For us its really important that these notifications do play as drivers are being judged on their driving behavior.

We are using Version: 15.2.1.1094

And the devices are in a lockdown profile with only maps, the dialer and our driving app.

Is there a way to make this work.

We see that this only happens on devices with SOTI

Hi Arjen,

Thank you for posting in SOTI Central.

Within your lockdown profile configuration, look into using the "Activity Suppression" option, this should be the solution to the problem. If this then works and you wish to use the "Native" lockdown type, look into the Android Manifest of your app and see if the audio comes from another application. It might be getting blocked by default, you can authorize it via the manualblacklist script in the background.

Use this as an example:

manualblacklist addallowed bundle-id-of-audio.apk

manualblacklist on

Here's also a useful table for manualblacklist function:

manualblacklist To add app in black list ,  it polls for current activity and close it, if it is blacklisted.  manualblacklist [add|remove] [absoulte activity name]   To add allowed app  manualblacklist addallowed [package/activity]   to remove allowed app manualblacklist removeallowed [package/activity]   to off the manual black list manualblacklist off   to on the manual black list  manualblacklist on   to add black list packages  manualblacklist add [packageName]   to remove blacklist package  manualblacklist remove packageName[]   to wipe /reset blacklist manualblacklist reset   to list manualblacklist on the device console  manualblacklist list

If this resolves the problem, please mark this post as the solution. If you have any questions or continue to face a problem, feel free to reach out.

The Sounds derive from the app itself so this should not be the problem. the sound files are in the /res folder of the app.
We are using activity suppression as native suppression does not show the signal strength and battery on our TC56 and TC57.

Hi Arjen,

Does the app work perfectly fine without a lockdown configuration? Can you also provide these further details:

- Does it work fine on a Samsung rather than Zebra for example?

- Android Enterprise or Android Classic?

- Agent Version?

- OS Version

- Lifeguard Version

- MX Version

Hi Arjen,

Can you clarify if the app works perfectly fine without a lockdown configuration deployed?

Regarding the firmware, I can see there are new updates available. Can you attempt to upgrade the OS to the latest Lifeguard / Firmware and observe if you experience the same issue? Ideally:

TC56: BSP 02.32.04 - October Update
TC57: 1.30.04 - October Update

Thirdly, can you clarify if you're using this AE Agent Plugin: https://www.soti.net/files/apks/AE/Zebra_Hawkeye_RC_AE_1.6.0.102.pcg.

I will check this tomorrow.

Firmware wise we are busy with slowly upgrading the firmware but as I have 3000 devices under my management at 40+ locations this is quite a slow process.

Yes we use this plugin.
