Samsung Tab A7 Lite Updated to Android 13, however my System Update Policy should have blocked it. Any Ideas?

I have a Samsung Tab A7 lite on android 12. We currently have a profile with a lockdown and System update policy. The policy is set up to postpone software updates from February 7th to April 30th. Today, Feb 21st I had a device prompt me to update to Android 13 while in user mode. It looks like the update went through. We are trying to avoid and postpone Android 13 for the time being. Can someone take a look at our Update Policy and insure we set it up correctly? I have an spoken with a Soti rep during the set up of the policy and at the time he said it looked good.

edit: this device does have 3 profiles assigned to it. With only one of the three profiles having the System Update Policy configured. Do we need to configure it for each profile?

Hi Daniel,

Greetings!

Based on your statement that you received the update notification while in user mode, to further understand the situation, I would request you kindly provide me with more information on the type of lockdown currently implemented.

Furthermore, from the screenshot you provided, I observed that you postponed the update and established a freeze period, which would typically ensure that no updates are applied during that time frame. However, you mentioned that the upgrade still proceeded despite these measures.

To further investigate this issue, I recommend conducting a similar test using scripts to verify the results on a separate testing device.

To Postpone. The system update is postponed for 30 days. After 30 days, the system reverts to the default policy.

writeprivateprofstring SystemUpdatePolicy SystemUpdatePolicy 3

apply SystemUpdatePolicy

To set a freeze period, add this command: writeprivateprofstring SystemUpdatePolicyUpdateFreezePeriodCount number

Then, for each freeze period add:

writeprivateprofstring SystemUpdatePolicy UpdateFreezePeriodStartDatenumber "monthDay"

writeprivateprofstring SystemUpdatePolicy UpdateFreezePeriodEndDatenumber "monthDay"

monthDay is the start or end of the freeze period, in the format of MM-DD. So, October 19 becomes 10-19

Your script will look like this –

writeprivateprofstring SystemUpdatePolicy SystemUpdatePolicy 3

writeprivateprofstring SystemUpdatePolicyUpdateFreezePeriodCount 83

writeprivateprofstring SystemUpdatePolicy UpdateFreezePeriodStartDatenumber "02-07"

writeprivateprofstring SystemUpdatePolicy UpdateFreezePeriodEndDatenumber "04-30"

apply SystemUpdatePolicy

Kind regards,
