Is it possible to remove an assigned AD user from a device altogether? I know it is possible to change an assigned user but I can't see an option to remove the assigned user (to make it a true stock device).
Of course I could just use a test AD user to help with this but I would like a 'cleaner' solution if possible!

I confirmed with a Product Manager that the ability to remove an assigned AD user from a device is currently not available.
The current workaround is to either assign the device to a place holder AD user (as you have been doing), or to re-enroll the device.
