Black Screen on Remote Control with RedHat Linux

We are running into a problem with linux devices running RedHat where remote controlled sessions just display a black screen.

I have seem and resolved this before on Android but this is the first I have seen this on Linux.

I ensured that "Screen Sharing" is enabled but other than that I am at a loss of what to check.

Any advise is greatly appreciated!

Thank you

What are the version/build number of your device agent and server, and of the Redhat linux you are using on the device?

What policies have you deployed onto the devices?

Is the problem consistent for more than one device of the same hardware model/operating-system-version/agent-version?

Thank you for your reply, Raymond.

We are running agent version 15.1.0.632 on SOTI Server version 15.3.

We have no policies deployed to the device yet.

Unfortunately we do not have other devices of this type to test on. However, we have reinstalled the OS on this device and come to the same result.

We have not had issues with devices running Ubuntu or Raspbian on this same SOTI server.

The device we are running this on is an Advantech ARK-1551 Mini PC. This is running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.5 (Ootpa)

OS type is 64-bit

You should test whether you have issues with other MobiControl features such as profiles and actions.  If there is problem only with Remote-Control, maybe you have to work with Soti support team on various linux configuration files and device driver related to display.  In the world of embedded linux, there can be lots of minor tuning required even if the OS itself is supported by Soti MobiControl.

Also, have you tried installaing ubuntu on your Advantech ARK-1551 Mini PC and see if you have similar problem?

Other profiles appear to install just fine. I believe you are correct that tuning may need to be required to allow full remote access through SOTI.

I installed Ubuntu and was able to remote in just fine. This seems to be isolated to Red Hat OS and possibly a permissions issue.

I will follow up with results once I engage SOTI.
