Hi,

I have a filesync rule to pull files from devices, but how do I actually get to these files for a cloud instance?

The only way I can see at the moment is to edit the file sync rule, and browse the folder

Thanks
Adam

Look for the "File System Manager" item in Global Settings.

If you intend to read the files synchronized onto cloud MobiControl server interactively from time to time, you can always use the cloud file browser in your web-console, provided that the directories used have been properly selected with required read/write permission set up with the help from Soti cloud support team.

If large number of files need to be mirrored in your corporate data server in a timely and smart manner,  you might need to contact Soti support team to see if you need to use MobiControl API and/or arrange dedicated network infrastructure or re-configurations to make the process efficient, secure and cost effective.

Another issue worth mentioning is about possible extra cost.  If the number of files, the file sizes, the number of devices or the sync frequency is/are high such that the outgoing data traffic volume is high, there may be a cost issue because Cloud Hosting vendor such as Amazon charge extra for large amount of outgoing traffic.  If your file-sync policies incur high extra traffic charge consistently for a long period of time such that Soti lose money for the cloud instance as a result,  I don't know if Soti will contact you to negotiate extra charge for the cloud subscription license, or impose some bandwidth limit on the cloud instance if your policies are not fine-tuned to reduce monthly traffic volume/cost.  In some extreme cases involving  really extremely heavy file-sync traffic, it might be more cost effective to migrate the MobiControl  implementation from cloud to on-premises server.

Hi Raymond,

Thanks for the answer, the frequency will be low and only time to time. But all really useful information to know.

You mention the cloud file browser, silly question, but where would I locate this ?

Thanks
Adam
