Adding Phone Numbers Manually

Hi all,

I understand that SOTI has a send SMS function, that I'd like to utilize. However, our chosen network provider blocks the functionality that is used to read the number from the SIM itself. Is there any way for me to set the number manually? Or better still import them?

I had previously asked our provider to assist, and they imported a list. However, I now recognize this was a custom field "Phone_Number" and as such is not able to be used to access the send SMS functionality.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Seb,

It seems that "Send SMS" is still available on version v14 but Raymond is correct in that you can no longer edit the "Destination Phone Number(s)": to send to multiple devices, you have to select multiple devices and look for "Send SMS" under Device Actions. 





However, this also means you can no longer edit the Phone Number of the Destination Devices since that dialog box is no longer available; the MobiControl agent will have to be able to detect the device's Phone Number in order to use this feature (as you can see from the screenshot above). 

As Raymond has stated, v13.4 should still support the solution he proposed.
I have also not tested on v14.1.6 so I cannot confirm if "Send SMS" is available on that version or not (I used 14.1.5).

Latest v13.4 still supports sending message or script via SMS only for some selected legacy Windows and  Android platform devices.

You can just edit the phone number by clicking on "Destination Phone Number(s)"  in the corresponding "send"  interface as shown below:

 

Unfortunately,  this UI seems to be missing in the latest v14.1.6 release.  If I remember correctly,  support for sending message/script via SMS has actually be dropped by Soti from some particular version of v14.  Maybe Soti support team can officially clarify about this.
