Lockdown template to launch URL in chrome

Solved

Hi,

I want to make a link in the template to allow user to go back to the website (internal) if they use the back button.

Chrome is open at the startup and it is working fine (webpage defined as homepage) but when I set a template with a simple link, it open in the internal browser and the page is not working (I think it use Surf).

I want that link to open Chrome or switch back to it to allow the webpage to work.

I tried the Intend, browsers and other possibilities but those are only for the Custome home page and the link is not working.

Enable Single App Mode get me a black screen instead of Chrome.

So how to set a Template to open a web page in Chrome and not in Surf?

Or how to prevent user to use the back button and be stuck on the template page?

Not used yet but try intent instead:

intent://URL#Intent;scheme=https;action=android.intent.action.VIEW;component=com.android.chrome/com.android.chrome.Main;end

But you may need to add chrome as a hidden launch item in order to get this work.

Hi,

This intent is only working on the custom home page but not in a HTML Template.

I had to rebuild my Template as it disapeared (again) and I got my solution! :)

I was using the code for another application:

<A href="<MCLink0>"><img src="<MCExeIcon0>" onerror="this.style.display='none'" /><div class="txt"><MCDISP0></div></a>

And using the same it open Chrome as it is defined in the Custom Home page with LAUNCH://com.android.chrome

So the MCLink0 is the first application in that screen and since Chrome is the one, it just open it back!

This solve my issue.

That's something completely different you are now talking about...
Your request was "So how to set a Template to open a web page in Chrome and not in Surf?"
That's what i showed and linked before...

Btt: Yes element 0 is the first one used (0-based array) but if it just was not visible, it has been removed before (to have it as a hidden item) or the template was not correctly build. And Your request would have been then "lockdown item not shown in lockscreen" (or similar).

So i also recommend if your changed template is not used anywhere else and now not hiding an item which should be hidden.

Hi,

I tried to get a simple link in the template (<a href="xxx"></a>) to open in Chrome but the links are opening in the "internal browser" and not in Chrome even if it is set as default browser.

Using intent did not work and anyway, how to include it in the template exactly?

"But you may need to add chrome as a hidden launch item in order to get this work." : what this mean? Adding in the lockdown custom home page?

I tried the default template "DynamicAndroidLockdownTemplate.html" and Chrome icon was in it but nothing happen when I click on it.

Again with the intent you can add an itent item in lockdown profile with the command i posted above to get this done that way (if it shouldn't be a button or so at a specific place always and independent from the added lockdown items).

Then you don't need to edit the template for each link you want to provide but may require chrome as an hidden item in order to work (untested from my side).

Edit: But a short test tells me that this seem not to work, something is missing or wrong here (even tried with https:// before the URL).

But on my test device if i use browser / browsers the URL entered is opened in chrome by default, so would be the way easier way to do it if you haven't changed the default browser to another app..

Edit 2: Otherwise following intent worked fine for me:
http://test-page.com#Intent;scheme=http;action=android.intent.action.VIEW;component=com.android.chrome;end
