Microsoft apps can't screen share or Remote Control

Hi,

We have Samsung Galaxy tablets that are all under work-managed profiles, the Remote Control and screen sharing work just fine when using the device but for some reason only the Microsoft apps do not:

Allow Screensharing (when sharing your screen on an online meeting it goes black, it is also a black screen in Remote Control view)
Allow Screenshots
Allow files to be saved (cannot save any photos/files sent through Outlook)

We really need these working because we use Microsoft products almost exclusively (Outlook, Teams, Edge, Word, Excel, etc.)

Again all the other (non microsoft) apps work just fine, we can screen share, Remote Control, screenshot, etc.

Hi Nouhara,

please provide more information:

- which Android version does your device use?
- Do you set any managed app config data?

I cant' check the screensharing but was able to check following on my Nokia 5.3 with A12 (fully managed):

- Word: able to take a screenshot (via hardware keys) and when tried to save a file or open a template (only on first time) i get prompted to grant "all file access". When done, all fine.
- Excel/Powerpoint/Teams/Microsoft Office: Same as word but no need to grant permission.
- We don't use edge on android devices, so i also can't check that.

Do you have the possibility to try on other models and/or android version(s)?

Hi Rafael,

We are running the latest OS, Android 13, on all devices. We did not set any managed app config data but we are using EndPoint for some conditional app access. We used to run completely on EndPoint/Intune but recently switched over to SOTI. Before this we had no problems screenshotting, screen sharing, and saving files.

We don't have any devices running an older OS as these are all new devices and this is the only model we have so I can't test on another model.

Your problem may be related to the Microsoft apps themselves.  What are the versions of your Microsoft apps installed on the problematic devices?  Have you tried updating to the latest available version and see if there is any difference/improvement?

We are using the latest version of all the apps, the devices are all new out of the box

Are you using EndPoint Manager/Azure with conditional access and app protection? We have this same issue. And it is because in your App Protection policy (if you run one) You specify what can interact with that program. So i allowed the SOTI client and it still wont interact together.  This could be something that MS has done on purpose due to security.

Yes we are using EndPoint/Azure with conditional app access, originally we were using EndPoint to completely manage the devices and recently switched over to SOTI. When we used EndPoint I had no issues with screenshotting, screen sharing and saving files

Nouhara,

Did you get an answer out of SOTI?

Hi Nouhara,

Thanks for posting on SOTI Pulse and thanks Rafael and Raymond for responding to post.

Was it working before for any previous devices? If it was, would you like to compare the app version and check?

In this case, I would suggest you open a support case, because this one required further troubleshooting with device logs.

Thank you.

Kind regards,
