To answer your questions:

How many devices do you have to rename? - 2800 devices

Do you have AD/LDAP integrated on your server? - Nope

What are the version and build numbers of your MobiControl server? - 14.2.0.2894

Are you very familiar with MobiControl REST API's and have successfully used them in administrative tasks before? - yes. I'm familiar with SOTI REST API.


What I have tried so far are the following:

1. API to "Send action to devices within a group" > send script > "devrename xxx" = doesnt work

2. Go directly to WebConsole > Send script > devrename xxx = doesnt work

There seems to be something new in v14.2.0.2894 that makes devrename not working any more.   Apparently, according to my tests a moment ago, some other script commands that used to work in earlier versions don't seem to work any more in this build.  It can be due to changes in the server or the agent or both.   I need to further investigate this when I have time.
