Shared Device Login in Single App Mode

Hi,

I set up the shared devices as described in the video.(Configuring Shared Device)

At the end, it explains that after logout, the login screen is shown in Single App Mode.

How can this be configured?

If I use a profile for it, I don’t have a way to distinguish between the states.

If I use two profiles and move the device between two folders—one with the “normal” profile and the other with the Single App profile—I run into the issue that in 90% of cases, the login doesn’t work and times out.

Additionally, is it perhaps possible to pass the credentials used for login to Outlook, so that the email inbox is set up automatically?

Best regards

As you mentioned about Single-App profile, I assume you are trying out shared Apple devices.  The video for shared Apple device is very clear and easy to understand.

MobiControl shared-device mechanism is ALWAYS done with 2-level device group tree, with devices moving between the parent device folder that has shared-device advanced-configuration set up and the child device folders based on the LDAP/AD/IdP device group/user logged-in according to the shared-device mapping defined in the parent folder.  The parent folder has single-app profile running the log-in app targeted to it.   Each child folder can have virtually any other profile/policies customized for the designated user successfully logged in to the device for the device-group.  When a device in the child group gets logged out, it is relocated back to the parent folder ready for another log-in attempt.   I really don't understand why your login doesn't work and times out in 90% of the cases.

Hello Raymond,

I’m using Android devices. Sorry, I didn’t notice that the video on the page is linked for Apple devices as well.

They are Zebra TC 27 running Android 13.

Are there any SOTI logs I could look at for this?
It seems a bit like it’s being moved into the subfolder “too quickly,” and the login process can’t be completed.

I just reconfigured it as follows:
The lockscreen with login is set up in Single App Mode in the main folder.
After login, the device should be moved to the “in use” folder, which contains a lockscreen with the apps that should be available for use.
However, the device is being moved before the login is successful.

If I move the device back to the main folder, the ongoing login process successfully completes.
