Process Description
To create a new rule:
1. In the Legacy Console section, choose a platform and right-click on the File Sync Rule. Select Create File Sync Rule to open the File Sync Wizard.
2. Choose the appropriate radio button for the direction of the file sync rule.
Note: File sync rules are not bi-directional; you need two separate file sync rules to upload and download files between your devices and SOTI MobiControl.
3. In the Device File / Folder Name field, choose where to synchronize the file directory on the device.
Note: to Identify the directory that the %ROOT% Macro is pointing to, look at the FileManagementFolder entry in the Settings table on the MobiControl Database.
5. Choose the appropriate Sub-Folder creation for the files being uploaded. If you do not wish to create sub-folders, keep the default value of Do not create subfolders for uploading files, then select Next. 6. Choose the devices that the File Sync Rule should target, then select Next.
7. Select a schedule for the devices. The default is set to update the File Sync every time a device checks in. This can be changed by selecting Use Specified File Sync Schedule and then Add.
Advanced File Sync Options:
To set up Advanced options, click on Advanced on the Rule Summary page. File sync rules can be configured to do the following:
- Set up a synchronization criterion. You can choose to transmit files based on the available options.
- Synchronize Subfolders. Synchronize when a device is relocated to the targeted group and immediately after the rule is created.
- Network restriction: Choose if files are synchronized over Wi-Fi/ Cellular/ LAN/ and Cellular while Roaming.
- Pre-synchronization and Post-Synchronization. Add scripts for Android devices.
Note: Possible use cases for scripts can include:
- Installing OS Update Files.
- Installing MX Config files for Zebra devices.
- Other actions such as restarting devices/ clearing app data.
