How to Purge Incidents in SOTI XSight

This article describes the different options to permanently purge incidents and all associated artifacts, including notes and attachments from SOTI XSight.

Situation

When incident data needs to be permanently erased from SOTI XSight, administrators can utilize the purge function to ensure compliance and data security.

Environment

All SOTI XSight versions.

Process Description

 

1. Log in to SOTI XSight as an administrator.

2. Select the SOTI XSight menu button located in the top left corner and select Settings.

3. On the left sidebar list, select Privacy.

Purging User Specific Data:

1. In the Export and remove personal data field, type the user's name. A list of existing users will appear when you type a name. 

2. Once the desired user in the list is located, options to delete and export will become available. 

Purging Device Specific Data:

1. In the Export and remove device data field, type the device's name. A list of existing devices will appear when you type a name. 

2. Once the desired device in the list is located, options to delete and export will become available. 

Purging a Single Incident:

1. In the Purge single incident field, type the Incident-ID or subject of the incident to be permanently removed. A list of matching incidents will appear when typing an incident ID, narrowing down as more characters are typed

2. Once the desired incident in the list is located, select it. The Purge Incident button will be displayed.

3. Select Purge Incident to permanently remove the selected incident and all associated artifacts from SOTI XSight.

To Purge All Resolved Incidents or to Delete Incidents Not Updated for a Specified Period of Time:

1. Enter a specific number of days, months, or years in the designated field.

2. Select Purge Incident.

Note: Purging actions are irreversible and cannot be undone.

 

Verification and Validation

Deleted incidents can be verified in the Incident Management section of SOTI XSight.
