Situation
This procedure is useful when deploying in-house applications for IOS devices privately without uploading them to the business app store.
Environment
This feature is available in SOTI MobiControl version 13 and above.
Process Description
Prerequisites:
- A device with IOS 9.3 and above
- An IPA application file that has been self-signed via Xcode or alternative app development tools
- SOTI MobiControl version 13 and above
1. On the SOTI MobiControl hamburger menu, select Policies >Apps > New App Policy.
2. Choose IOS under the IOS family of devices.
3. Upload the IPA file to SOTI MobiControl. You can either upload an IPA file directly by selecting browse file or you can drag and drop it into the field provided.
NOTE: By default, the app source is Enterprise when adding a new application. You can also select Enterprise URL and provide a URL to the IPA if the file is hosted externally.
Once the upload is successful, the name, version and build number are displayed for reference.
4. Select Configure to enter Advanced Configurations.
5. Under Advanced Configurations > Installation Options, choose your deployment type.
NOTE: The application can be deployed as suggested or as a forced mandatory install.
NOTE: Be aware if the IOS devices are Supervised or Unsupervised (see Getting Started with Supervised Devices for information). Unsupervised devices require user acceptance to install the application. Select Request Device to Install Application to send a prompt to the user. Supervised devices can push the application silently as either suggested or mandatory, with no prompts needed.
6. Once configured, choose Save and select Save & Assign to assign the policy to a device group or a specific device.
NOTE: For more information about IOS app policies, please refer to the following SOTI Mobicontrol online help topic: App Policies for iOS
Verification and Validation
SOTI MobiControl will push an installation request to the device. If successful, the following log provided in the device details will indicate success and the device will begin to install the application.
