I am wondering if anyone has found a way to not only "ungray" the setting under Settings > Google > Security > Google Play Protect so that it can be toggled, but also actually toggle it OFF. SOTI provided two methods for doing the first item, to re-enable the setting so that it can be manually toggled. The methods are actually the same thing (a feature control) done two different ways: (1) Send script command: writesecureprofstring DeviceFeature DisableVerifyApps 1 apply featurecontrol (2) Create / assign a Feature Control that has "Disable Verify Apps Enforcement" checked. In my experience, these have the effect of re-enabling the toggle on the GPP setting, but leaving the setting toggled ON. It then has to manually be toggled OFF. I have certain apps that are mission-critical and mass-deployed, so touching each device to turn off GPP scanning for first deployment and subsequent app updates is absolutely not a feasible option. So far, SOTI Support has been unable to provide a means to programmatically toggle that option OFF. My other rather large challenge with this is, under AEDO, I've found that a Lockdown Screen profile has the side effect of toggling GPP back on, and graying it back out again so that it once again cannot be toggled off. SOTI says that this is the "expected behavior," to which I respond, WHY? Perhaps I am missing a pertinent concept here, but to my mind it is ridiculous to have a lockdown screen profile that also has the effect of locking GPP scanning on. These corporate users need app installations and app updates -- and those need to happen while the lockdown screen is in place. I've found that if the lockdown profile is already applied, the above two methods will have the effect of "ungraying" the GPP option so that it can manually be turned off. BUT if the lockdown profile ever is re-applied, or refreshes itself due to an editing change (such as perhaps adding an entry for whatever new app(s) are intended to be applied), then GPP is again turned on and the toggle is grayed out. This is very frustrating. I need a way to turn GPP scanning off, and KEEP it off, until I (and only I) tell it that it can turn back on again, Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you, Mark
Hello all, We have mobicontrol on version v13.3.0.3454 we have a lot of device under Zebra TC75X (android 6) who are enrolled by android +. Last week, I've try to update OS android 6 to 7 with stage now and mobicontrol script. The result is ok, my OS is well updated to android 7 and the device STILL enrolled AGAIN (profile, rules, …). All seems to work fine. Nice nice nice :). Well,for to be quiet :) for a certain period of time, we think to migrate to android 8 oreo. But sorry, for me it's not clear I have some question about this. a) Is it possible to jump to android 6 to android 8 directly ? Or it's better to migrate to 7 and after migrate to 8 ? b) Is it possible to enroll an android 8 with android + ? Because, I've read that now for android 8 we must to used android entreprise !!!! c) Why it's not possible to enroll android 8 with android + ? Also, could you tell me if there are some big difference between android entreprise and android + ? All our rules will be work again with android entreprise or we need to review all ? Hey guys I occasionally need to apply shared preferences to some android apps, and it would be great to do it via script. I have some set (see link here) and tried to update them with a script command: writeprivateprofstring <myAppName> BaseURI http://api.myAppDomain.com:8044/Api Essentially I am trying to keep 100 people from having to go in and adjust settings as the API endpoint URL has changed. This does not seem to touch those settings. Has anyone done it?
Hi Team, First time poster here, although I've been floating around the forums benefiting from the shared wisdom posted here for the last few months. I've run into a dead end with this particular issue, and i'm hoping i can get some advice on how to proceed. We've run into an issue recently that seems to only affect Android 9 devices on the Android Enterprise configuration. The lock screen (when you first unlock the phone before swiping to unlock, or entering a PIN etc) doesn't seem to display notifications of any kind We've noticed that when the device is in lockdown mode, we can't see any notifications at all on the lock screen, in fact in order to see the notifications, we need to enter administrator mode, or send the "lockdown off" script via MobiControl. Some of our sites rely on system-generated messages sent to mobiles to give the staff instructions on where to check, and which routes to take etc. When i take a look into the settings of the device, i can see that under the lock screen portion, the Notifications button is set to disabled, and is greyed out i.e. cannot be adjusted. Again, as this only affects Android 9 devices on Android Enterprise, i'm baffled at what i can do to resolve this. ! Some points on our configuration ! #: Lockdown config: Activity Suppression enabled. Disable Status Bar Expansion Enabled. Using Device Control. #: Feature Control: Redact Notifications is not ticked. Disable all notifications is not ticked. Disable all system UI is ticked, although this didn't seem to have any effect on this problem either way. #: We use the MobiControl Stage Programmer app with NFC for smartphones, and the QR Code for tablets. #: Android Plus covers 80% of our fleet, with 20% of Enterprise devices distributed in the last 3 months. #: I've configured the devices to land in a blank folder with no payloads, and once they are enrolled and ready, i'll manually drag the device into a folder with a profile targeted to said folder, which will push the profile/payloads. #: We use the J5 Pro (Android 8.1), Galaxy A20 (9.0) and the Galaxy Tab a 2017 (8.1). If the guard misses a message, this can be a massive compliance issue, so unless the guard keeps their device open on the SMS app, there's a good chance they'll miss it. Has anyone else run into this issue before? Any assistance of advice provided would be sincerely appreciated. Thanking you in advance, Joell
Hello, I've been looking around the forums for a solution but haven't really found anything that describes what I want to do despite the many questions about the device naming macros. The main thing I want to do is update the %AUTONUM% macro to start at a given number. Other things could maybe be that I want the %SERIALNUM% to only show the last 4 characters/digits of the serial number or something. We were told that the macros could be customized somehow but I can't find any info on how to do it or what the limits are or anything. I know the AUTONUM starting at a specific number is the main one we want to do. If it is possible to customer these macros, I would appreciate any info or any pointers to find that info. Hi All, I've recently received a Zebra MC93 for testing from one of my vendors, I'm in the process of getting it set up for our Warehouse Management System. I have DW enabled and set to "send enter" but when I scan a barcode it's not sending enter as it should be. I have attempted to force stop and relaunch DW after turning the checkbox off and on, restarting device, etc. I've also tested with multiple apps to verify it wasn't just an issue with our WMS app, or a specific profile. Hi, Can anyone advise how I get the page to display correctly AND with no address bar Chrome v76.0.3809.132 MobiControl v14.3.4.1087 Hardware Honeywell Android 8.1.0, build 86.00.13-(0108) Using https://myurl#Intent;scheme=http;action=android.intent.action.VIEW;component=com.android.chrome/ I get no address bar BUT the page has zoomed in: So, I tried browsers://myurl#Intent;scheme=http;action=android.intent.action.VIEW;component=com.android.chrome/ I now get the address bar, but the page displays as I want it to. Tried using intent:https://myurl#Intent;scheme=http;action=android.intent.action.VIEW;component=com.android.chrome/ out of curiosity, but the button on the kiosk page doesn’t do anything when pressed. Hello, We have around 350 Android+ handheld devices that we configure for lockdown using a custom HTML kiosk. It works well but we have an issue where we can't push any updates to the devices over cellular. If the profile is altered in any way (package update, kiosk code update, even a setting option change) the devices on cellular simply minimize the kiosk and remove the lockdown, effectively opening up the device. This happens even when we have the device group enabled to update over wifi, cellular, and cellular while roaming. What would be some things I can check to make sure we have this configured correctly? Only being able to update over wifi is very inconvenient when managing so many devices. Thanks!
good morning, i am having an issue with the resetpassword script on our samsung tab A devices. the script worked in the past, but ever since we upgraded the OS to android 9 the script to reset passwords to a pincode does not work. am i doing something wrong?
We've received a number of reports of people losing their email configuration on Android Enterprise enrolled devices. This only seems to be occurring when their password is changed, to resolve the issue we have to revoke the Exchange ActiveSync policy from the device via MobiControl and them install again, which then prompts them to input their email address, username and finally password within the Gmail app. We mainly use Samsung Galaxy A20e devices throughout but there are some legacy devices still in circulation. Any advise to stop this happening will be very useful. Thanks in advanced.
Hello ! I would like to deploy (manually for the moment and for testing purposes) a Certificates Profile that contains a PKCS#12 certificate (with a .p12 extension). I have the impression that this is not possible because once assigned, the profile does not deploy. It remains in a "Pending Install" status and I have an error message in the device logs : Error Device configuration failed ([Certificates] Configuration failed to apply) When I edit the profile and download the certificate provided (with .p12 extension), it downloads me a file in .cer extension. Maybe for security reasons, I don't know. How can I deploy my p12 file on a test device ? (MC server 14.3.3 - Android Enterprise DO) Thank you !
Hi, so here my key datas: MobiControl 14.3.4.1087 Agent 13.7.6.1004 on a MC330M with Android 8.1.0 Active MDM API: Work Profile, Remote View I assign profiles to these devices but nothin will happen, with my 20 Android 7.1.2 with Agent 13.0 is everything ok. I have no errors or something else so i dont know what to do. The only thing ist that i have a "Work Profile" on the android 8 devices Kind Regards
We had a profile which had a feature control of "Block Background Data" set on Samsung XCover4 devices. This has now been removed, however has left the Data Saver turned on. Is there a way to toggle this to off, or better still, to allow MobiControl to allow app whilst data saver is on (found in Settings / Apps / MobiControl / Mobile Date / Data Usage / Allow app while Data saver on). This is using SOTI server v13.4 and device agent Samsung ELM 13.7.5, utilising an AND+ / DA build method.
