Device Status Rule with event "App in Foreground" does not get triggered

Hi, I have created a device status rule to send an email in the Soti Surf app is not in foreground (see screenshot). I have tested with couple of devices and the rule does not get triggered at all. Can you please advise if I am doing something wrong. Other alert rules that I have configured seem to be working fine except this one. MobiControl version is 13.3.0.3217

Getting error when adding app from Google Play Store to Application Catalog Rule - "The server could not complete your request. An internal error occurred." Solved

Hi, we are getting error when we try to add google play store apps to an application catalog rule. The error appears after selecting the app in the search results. I have noticed that the version field is not filled in and also the description field contains some encrypted text. Issue happens with any app we tried. My guess is that the system is unable to parse the data from the app store correctly. Eventually the entry gets added after few retries but then I have noticed errors in the DS Log: 2018-07-10 12:12:02,526 (0x00002b20) [ERROR] ServerUtils::CheckIfMandatoryApplicationInstalled() Failed to verify MandatoryApplication version: Device(990004699487892), Expected(net.soti.surf), Got(net.soti.surf14.1.0 Build 58) I do see some errors in the Management Service log that might be related: ********************************************************************* Exception: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. *********************************************************************[TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.] at System.RuntimeMethodHandle.InvokeMethod(Object target, Object[] arguments, Signature sig, Boolean constructor) at System.Reflection.RuntimeMethodInfo.UnsafeInvokeInternal(Object obj, Object[] parameters, Object[] arguments) at System.Reflection.RuntimeMethodInfo.Invoke(Object obj, BindingFlags invokeAttr, Binder binder, Object[] parameters, CultureInfo culture) at Soti.MobiControl.ManagementService.MarketSearchCommunicationService.Details(MarketDetailsRequest request) at Soti.MobiControl.ManagementService.ServiceBase.Soti.MobiControl.ManagementService.Contracts.IMarketSearchCommunicationService.Details(MarketDetailsRequest request) at SyncInvokeDetails(Object , Object[] , Object[] ) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.SyncMethodInvoker.Invoke(Object instance, Object[] inputs, Object[]& outputs) at Soti.MobiControl.ManagementService.ServiceOperationInvoker.Invoke(Object instance, Object[] inputs, Object[]& outputs) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.DispatchOperationRuntime.InvokeBegin(MessageRpc& rpc) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.ImmutableDispatchRuntime.ProcessMessage5(MessageRpc& rpc) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.ImmutableDispatchRuntime.ProcessMessage11(MessageRpc& rpc) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.MessageRpc.Process(Boolean isOperationContextSet) { [NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.] at Soti.MarketSearch.MarketSearchHelper.GetAppInfo(String queryString) } ******************************************************************** ### 2018-07-10 16:25:50.982 WARN  [78]: GetInnerText: value is nul or empty. Problems with MobiControl WebConsole SSL certificate Solved

Hi, we are facing issues with the SSL certificate for MobiControl WebConsole. Please, see the scheenshots below. We are using the latest version of Chrome however we have same issue when we tried Microsoft Edge. Moreover this issue is preventing us from using the normal remote control (non HTML5). It keeps downloading the SotiRemoteControl plugin (SotiRemoteControlInstaller.msi)  even though it is already installed (see last screenshot for browser error). Please, advise how can we resolve this.

Soti Surf stuck after profile assignment with message "The administrator has made changes to the surf app's settings. Please launch the browser again" Solved

Hi, we are using SOTI solution for customer facing kiosks with a web site displayed in Soti Surf in kiosk mode. Soti Surf must be in the foreground at all times displaying the web site. The issue that we are facing is that after re-assignment of our profile (includes Application Run Control, Feature Control, Soti surf settings and Lockdown), Soti Surf gets stuck with a screen showing the message "The administrator has made changes to the surf app's settings. Please launch the browser again" (see screenshot). This happens even if there are no changes to Soti Surf settings. The tablet is enclosed in a kiosk stand so there is no access to the controls of the device. Customers cannot use the kiosk until a technician connects remotely to the device and re-starts Soti Surf on every single device. Please, advise how we can solve this issue without manual intervention. Ideally this message will be bypassed or Soti Surf will restart automatically. The devices are Samsung android tablets running OS 5.0.2 (Lollipop). MobiControl version is 13.3.0.3217, the agent version is 13.3.2.1004 (ELM) and Soti Surf version is 14.1.1.1121. Thank you

MobiControl - Remote Control (non-html) fails -Requires plug-in download & install Solved

Whenever I try to remote control a Windows CE device, I am prompted to download and install the remote control plug-in (SotiRemoteControlInstaller.ms) and then restart my browser. Things worked for several months & then it suddenly fails. This is now the second machine with exactly the same behaviour. Sometimes, killing the SotiRemoteControlLauncher.exe & restarting the browser works, sometimes not. Similar to this issue, my remote control sessions do not work. Unfortunately, I am using Internet Explorer 11 and not google Chrome. the work around suggested in that thread does not work for me. Soti MobiControl: v13.3.0.3851 Desktop OS: Windows 10 v1709 (build 16299.492) Browser: IE 11, MS Edge, Google Chrome 67.0.xxx)

Google Play Protect is suddenly stopping my app install

My situation is as follows: 1. Installed AFW on a Nokia 8 running Android 8.1.0 2. Enrolled in Mobicontrol 3. Created Package with my APK and assigned to Profile 4. Assigned Profile to Devices - Install Success 4. Made an update to my App and created new APK 5. Removed old Package from Profile 6. Create new Package with new APK and assigned to Profile 7. Assigned Profile to Devices - Install Failed with IO Error Upon inspection it seems like Google Play Protect is preventing the app install. The only workaround is to manually go into settings on each phone and disable Google Play Protect. Once I do this the install succeeds. Is anyone aware of this issue / solution?

Will "Android Go" ever be supported by SOTI MobiControl?

I'm looking to know if Android Go Edition is being considered on our roadmap as one Major reseller is looking to consider of these devices for future deployments. As you know, some emergent markets like the LATAM region is considered a gold mine for these kind of devices.

MobiControl Policy not downloading to device Solved

Hi I've just been upgraded to 14.1 and am in the process of creating new rules so that I can build Samsung devices using Managed Google Play Account. The Android Enterprise Bindings has been set, the rule for what apps I need have been created and they all work fine - wiped device enrols and apps are installed. BUT... The profile I have created to enforce encryption, SOTI Surf rules etc is not being installed.  It's pointing to the correct folder. There are no errors to show in the log of the profile or the device. What am I missing?

Windows CE: How to execute non-exe's from SOTI Lockdown? Solved

Hi, I have a .rdp file that I am adding as a menu item to my SOTI Lockdown screen as it's required for my particular scenario. The RDP logo will appear in the lockdown so the path is correct but launching it does not seem to work. (ie. tap/enter but nothing happens) If there was a way to get that working that'd be great but there may only be a solution for my workaround below: A few threads back I had a topic on launching a script from the lockdown screen on an android device and we achieved that with script://<path>/<script file> for the menu item after placing a .cmd script on the device. I would like to essentially accomplish this same thing but on Windows CE this time if possible as I have a SOTI script that can be used to launch the .rdp extension. There may be something simple I'm overlooking so I'm going to go dig through some docs. Thanks, Ben

    Android+ "MobiControl has stopped working"

This was on a (multiple) Zebra WT6000 non-GMS running the latest of Lollipop/MX. Right after enrollment into 14.1, my device would startup the MobiControl Agent app on the device and then the app would close, showing "MobiControl has stopped". I've been getting this consistently on all of my WT6000s. Sometimes relaunching the Agent will work but I had one instance where the device showed the agent and the stage app still installed and I had to uninstall the agent and re-enroll the device using stage. Anyone see this before? Upgraded Agent is 13.5.0 Build 1327 Thanks, Ben

    Tracking Data Usage Solved

Hi all, We are wanting to pull off the data usage directly from devices. I know this data is stored on the device as you can physically check the device to view it. Is there any way to run a script to pull this data off? Or possibly any other method to view data usage? Devices: Samsung XCover3, Samsung Acti Tab

Device in reboot loop as soon as MobiControl launches? Solved Locked

Hi, I have an Android tablet that is in a continuous reboot cycle.  Every time I power on the tablet, it will boot up normally until it starts to launch MobiControl, at which point the tablet restarts and then gets stuck in that cycle. I think this tablet was connected to a dev Mobi instance that is no longer online when I was testing an upgrade process.  How can I interrupt this process as we have a tablet that is rendered useless at this point. Thanks

Remote Control HTML5 not working Solved

Hi everybody. On one of our MobiControl environments we experience the problem that HTML5-RemoteControl is not working while the RC-FullClient does. I know that the way of communication between these two possibilities is slightly different. Can anybody explain how communication works with HTML5-RC between Management-Server, Deployment-Server, workstation and mobile device? Thank you very much!

Connection issue during startup of SOTI MobiControl on CN51

We have an connection issue for the MobiControl agent on our CN51 devices. When the agent starts it just says "Connecting to xxx" and nothing happens, if you manually click connect it connects directly to the server. We suspect that the SIM cards data Connection is not yet ready when the agent is starting and tries to connect. Is it possible to configure re-connect after a few seconds on the agent, or can you delay the startup? Thanks / Henric

Automate setting MobiControl UsageTracking Setting in Android Settings?

I recently setup a telecom expense management rule to monitor data usage across our Samsung Tab E Android devices.  I pushed out the rule to a group of the devices I want to monitor but found a user must activate the setting manually on the tablet.  I pushed this out to a couple hundred devices in vehicles where we do not want the user to have to do this manually.  Is there anyway I can programmatically make these changes?
