Hi, we are using Soti Surf (latest version from Google Play Store) in kiosk mode to display our customer web app. We have noticed that occasionally we will get the ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT page probably due to WiFi connectivity issues. Our problem is that since the android tablet is inside a stand enclosure there is no access to the buttons so there is no way to get out of this screen and re-try to load the web site. This creates big issue for us. We need a way to automatically retry to load the failed URL (or the home URL) and/or show a button on the error page that allows that. Can you please advise of a solution?
Hello Regarding MobiControl and Honeywell Android units, for example the Honeywell CT50 Android 6 I'm currently testing.I was wondering if anyone maybe have tested something like this before or have some toughts, I find Honeywell easier to work whit than Zebra but Zebra may have a little more advantage whit MobiControl as script comand to rund update downloaded on to the unit before hand. So from Honeywell and CT50 in this case, may have been changed in the newer units.Honeywell describe OTA update as making a xml provisioner whit their EZConfig as tasks: Source: http://server_ip/Honeywell_CommonES_Android_Common_4.01.00.3455.zipAction: InstallFile Destination: /storage/IPSM/honeywell/autoinstall/CommonES.zip This basically downloads and moves CommonES to destination folder and is automatically runned on reboot. Source: http://server_ip/HELSINKIAD_71.01.04.0015.zipAction: InstallOta Destination: Downloads and rund the kernel update whit a reboot when finished, on boot again the CommonES first downloaded is being runned. This is ok in itself sinse it can be downloaded from HTTP, HTTPS and FTP but when running several thousend units and more comming in diffrent location in non and secure networks it becomes a challenge to setup all the FTP and web servers to make this happen. So, could the Content Libary be used for this action, upload the OS files and downloaded to the unit.Downloading the CommonES to a file location should be ok but download kernel and run action InstallOta I'm a little more unsure of. Or could Content Libary setup a path in either HTTPS or FTP as we could have linked to barcode in EZConfig. So Ota is downloaded from https://sotiurl/ContenLibaryPath? Best regards Øystein Stakvik
Hi, I have created a device status rule to send an email in the Soti Surf app is not in foreground (see screenshot). I have tested with couple of devices and the rule does not get triggered at all. Can you please advise if I am doing something wrong. Other alert rules that I have configured seem to be working fine except this one. MobiControl version is 13.3.0.3217

Hi, we are getting error when we try to add google play store apps to an application catalog rule. The error appears after selecting the app in the search results. I have noticed that the version field is not filled in and also the description field contains some encrypted text. Issue happens with any app we tried. My guess is that the system is unable to parse the data from the app store correctly. Eventually the entry gets added after few retries but then I have noticed errors in the DS Log: 2018-07-10 12:12:02,526 (0x00002b20) [ERROR] ServerUtils::CheckIfMandatoryApplicationInstalled() Failed to verify MandatoryApplication version: Device(990004699487892), Expected(net.soti.surf), Got(net.soti.surf14.1.0 Build 58) I do see some errors in the Management Service log that might be related: ********************************************************************* Exception: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. *********************************************************************[TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.] at System.RuntimeMethodHandle.InvokeMethod(Object target, Object[] arguments, Signature sig, Boolean constructor) at System.Reflection.RuntimeMethodInfo.UnsafeInvokeInternal(Object obj, Object[] parameters, Object[] arguments) at System.Reflection.RuntimeMethodInfo.Invoke(Object obj, BindingFlags invokeAttr, Binder binder, Object[] parameters, CultureInfo culture) at Soti.MobiControl.ManagementService.MarketSearchCommunicationService.Details(MarketDetailsRequest request) at Soti.MobiControl.ManagementService.ServiceBase.Soti.MobiControl.ManagementService.Contracts.IMarketSearchCommunicationService.Details(MarketDetailsRequest request) at SyncInvokeDetails(Object , Object[] , Object[] ) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.SyncMethodInvoker.Invoke(Object instance, Object[] inputs, Object[]& outputs) at Soti.MobiControl.ManagementService.ServiceOperationInvoker.Invoke(Object instance, Object[] inputs, Object[]& outputs) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.DispatchOperationRuntime.InvokeBegin(MessageRpc& rpc) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.ImmutableDispatchRuntime.ProcessMessage5(MessageRpc& rpc) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.ImmutableDispatchRuntime.ProcessMessage11(MessageRpc& rpc) at System.ServiceModel.Dispatcher.MessageRpc.Process(Boolean isOperationContextSet) { [NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.] at Soti.MarketSearch.MarketSearchHelper.GetAppInfo(String queryString) } ******************************************************************** ### 2018-07-10 16:25:50.982 WARN [78]: GetInnerText: value is nul or empty. Hi, we are facing issues with the SSL certificate for MobiControl WebConsole. Please, see the scheenshots below. We are using the latest version of Chrome however we have same issue when we tried Microsoft Edge. Moreover this issue is preventing us from using the normal remote control (non HTML5). It keeps downloading the SotiRemoteControl plugin (SotiRemoteControlInstaller.msi) even though it is already installed (see last screenshot for browser error). Please, advise how can we resolve this.
Hi, we are using SOTI solution for customer facing kiosks with a web site displayed in Soti Surf in kiosk mode. Soti Surf must be in the foreground at all times displaying the web site. The issue that we are facing is that after re-assignment of our profile (includes Application Run Control, Feature Control, Soti surf settings and Lockdown), Soti Surf gets stuck with a screen showing the message "The administrator has made changes to the surf app's settings. Please launch the browser again" (see screenshot). This happens even if there are no changes to Soti Surf settings. The tablet is enclosed in a kiosk stand so there is no access to the controls of the device. Customers cannot use the kiosk until a technician connects remotely to the device and re-starts Soti Surf on every single device. Please, advise how we can solve this issue without manual intervention. Ideally this message will be bypassed or Soti Surf will restart automatically. The devices are Samsung android tablets running OS 5.0.2 (Lollipop). MobiControl version is 13.3.0.3217, the agent version is 13.3.2.1004 (ELM) and Soti Surf version is 14.1.1.1121. Thank you
Why antivirus protection displaying Delivered or failed if it failed i revoke and re-push the profile its working but incase of Delivered status its not working.
Whenever I try to remote control a Windows CE device, I am prompted to download and install the remote control plug-in (SotiRemoteControlInstaller.ms) and then restart my browser. Things worked for several months & then it suddenly fails. This is now the second machine with exactly the same behaviour. Sometimes, killing the SotiRemoteControlLauncher.exe & restarting the browser works, sometimes not. Similar to this issue, my remote control sessions do not work. Unfortunately, I am using Internet Explorer 11 and not google Chrome. the work around suggested in that thread does not work for me. Soti MobiControl: v13.3.0.3851 Desktop OS: Windows 10 v1709 (build 16299.492) Browser: IE 11, MS Edge, Google Chrome 67.0.xxx)
I've combed through the documentation and google-fu'd to the best of my ability, but while there's an explicit means to "Accept Untrusted Certificates" there is no documentation (that I've found) on where to establish trust for SSL certificates for LDAP by MC.The root certificate of the CA that signed our SSL certificate for LDAP is present in the certificates store (in windows) of the machine that MC is installed on. I have also been in the MCAdmin Utility and perused the Certificates section, but none of the sub-sections there appear to have any indication that they would be related to establishing trust for LDAPS.Any assistance is appreciated.
Is there any method for limiting the installation of an Android APK Package on an Android+ device based on a detection of whether a particular application is in the foreground? It would be nice to be able to trigger the installation of a new version of an application based on the current version not being in use so that we can avoid interrupting end users. MobiControl already can detect which app is actively in the foreground as it is one of the options for Collected Data, it would be ideal to leverage that with some sort of Filter Criteria whereby you could specify something along the lines of: If com.x.y ! in foreground, then install package.
I am looking for the best way to get an email alert each time a device is enrolled. We have devices returning from depot service from a shared spare pool. This means that I must delete/unenroll my damaged device before sending to depot, because I will not always be getting the same device back from depot. It is possible that a previously used and now repaired device will return from depot at a later time. I tried using the "Add new device" Event from the Alert Rule wizard, which covers the new device (that's never been enrolled with MobiControl) scenario. The problem is this method does not alert me if a device that has been previously enrolled is re-enrolled. I need both to work. As a workaround, we have applied a single profile to devices and are using a "Profile installed" Event to send email alerts to appropriate teams. This is not ideal, as we are sending a useless package just for the sake of an alert rule. Can anyone help me with a more simplified alert process that is triggered every time a device is enrolled?
I'm trying to diagnose an issue I'm seeing on some of our deployed tablets related to the Content Library. In order to figure out what is happening I need to look at where the Content Library files are saved to the tablet, as in the specific folder on the device where they download to. Where is the specific folder that the MobiControl client puts the Content Library files?
