    Applying Custom Attributes

Hi everyone , Got a few question for all of you, hopping someone will have a better idea that the one I had. Ok so, here's the situation, we own around 180 Memor10 at the moment , 2 for each shop we own. At first we managed to seperate things the way we used to do before as ; - 3 Groups ; Production , Development , Testing- One Sub groups for each shops we own. Got a relocating rules that force device to correctly assigne to the correct store based on their IP Adress. Here's the problem... we need sometime to make some test over new app we release, so I assign the new / test version to DEV / Test Profile (wich are assign to group of same name) and manually move sub-group to the parent one. Doing this I Loose my relocating rule everytime and it take lot of time to make thing clear and straight again. Lately ..I found about Custom attributes, wich seem to be a new way to work for that... as I could just put everyone in the same groupe, and create virtual group based only on this custom Attribute. My problem is...is there a way to "massively" change or reset those custom attributes? I mean...everyone could have "PROD" attribute by default...change it to "TEST" for a while, that way profile would update correctly. But then I would neeed to reset everything back after testing is done. Sometime it's one shop...sometimes got to do it on 40... That's why i'm here today...hoping maybe someone already had this kind of situation and found a way to work that may suits us too. Thanks in advance.

Modifying a Custom Attribute on an device by API Solved Locked

I need to use the API : PUT /devices/{deviceId}/customAttributes/{customAttributeId} This API requires the CustomAttribute ID as a parameter and I don't know where to find it. I tested the GET /customattributes API to get the ID, but it's not part of the response. I also poked around in the DataBase, but I don't see a table name that allows me to direct my search to the CustomAttributes to retrieve the IDs. Has anyone experienced this problem?

Custom attribute not working in SOTI surf URL Solved Locked

Hi all, I'm trying to set a dynamic URL in SOTI surf through a custom attribute. Creating a custom attribute "WachtZaal" in the device settings page, type "Text" + option "send to device". On the device, I fill in the custom attribute with a value. In SOTI SURF, I configure the URL with the custom attribute: device_id=CustomAttr:WachtZaal&token When launching the SOTI SURF app on the device I get the warning: kiosk device CUSTOMATTR:WACHTZAAL not configured wich means the program can't find a device called CUSTOMATTR:WACHTZAAL in his configuration. So it seems that the custom attribute is not being replaced with its configured value. Any advice? Device is a ZEBRA CC6000 with Android 8.1.0 / Agent Version 14.5.1

    Devrename with custom property

Hi I'm trying to rename some of our devices with the "devrename" command. I would like to rename the devices with a text + a custom property field from LDAP. Unfortunatly I can't get it to work. I've tried with other fields like %ENROLLMENT_USERNAME% and so on and it works fine. But I want a Custom Property field being used instead. The Custom Property field is the "Pager" attribute in AD

API Search for Custom Attributes Solved Locked

I am trying to search for devices using the REST API. Searching for things like  DeviceId, MACAddress, and Model are pretty straight forward. Howerver I don't understand how to search for CustomAttributes. The API Reference shows:  The custom attribute I want to search for looks like this: I was thinking it should look like this, but it doesn't work: CustomAttributes=[{'Name'}:{'Assigned Site Number'},{'Value'}:{'209'}] Does Any have an example of what my filter parameter should look like?

Assigning Custom Attribute Values to a Device

Hi I have created custom attributes in the Global Settings / Manage Custom Attributes. I'm able to assign custom attribute value to a device group but not to a device. I use a version 14.3.3 of MC. The help says : To assign a custom attribute value to a device: Click a device name to open its Device Information panel. On the Device Details tab, scroll to the Custom Attributes section. Click the pencil icon to turn on custom attribute editing. Enter a value for the custom attribute you want to apply to this device. Click Save to apply the new custom attribute value. Values for custom attributes are visible in the Device Information panel. You can edit the values at any point, following the same steps.   I don't have any Custom Attributes section in the Device Details tab. I have : COMPLIANCE / DEVICE DETAILS / CELLULAR DETAILS / DEVICE STATUSES / USER DETAILS / HARDWARE DETAILS / ANTIVIRUS / ANDROID ENTERPRISE   Am I missing something ?   Thank you.

Why don't Device Attribute values show in the Device Grid unless the device does a Check-in?

If Attributes are assigned as opposed retrieved from from the devie, how come does the device have to check-in in order for the attribute values to show up in the Device Grid? I have a number of "offline" devices that I want to assign attributes to and then be able to report off of those attributes. The Attribute property is visible when I look at the device level but the value in the grid of devices is "unknown". Devices: Android Enterprise Server Version 14.1.2 Agent: 13.6.0.1662

SOTI Surf 14.3.1.2 - feedback for SOTI

    1) When making changes to the SOTI Surf configuration at Profile level, the user sees a 'Configuration Updated' message asking them to relaunch the browser. With our current lockdown, this is not possible and we would expect that most users would end up being forced to reboot the device for the changes to take effect. I believe there was a Feature Request created for this under SB-4258, based on feedback that was provided when testing with SOTI Surf 14.2.0 Build 119 2) Custom Attributes. We currently have two potential use cases for SOTI Surf in a production environment, however a limitation of this browser for us is that the browser does not seem to support Custom Attributes (eg: Store Number 0001). Example: http://testurl.com/%CustomAttr:StoreNumber%/%CustomAttr:Language%/ Does SOTI have any plans to enable the use of Custom Attributes within SOTI Surf Configure Home Screen URL? Alternatively, what are our current options for deploying 500 unique URL's via SOTI Surf where each targeted device requires a custom URL to be set as the home page?

    Dodgy Filter Criteria Logic

Hi All,  Wondering if anyone else has this odd problem I noticed this week. In this example I have two lockdown profiles. One is across the bulk of my estate but I have a new one with extra functionality that I am rolling out in a staggered manner. (for pilots and whatnot).  In order to control that activity i started to use a custom attribute and I set the new profile to apply with the filter criteria myAttrib = "new" and i update the main profile's criteria to myAttrib does not contain "new" That worked for a while and for a small number of our stores I could just update the attribute at the Device Group level and all the devices in that store would switch profiles. For main rollout I decided to be clever and use a boolean value as my custom attribute instead. This way I should just scroll through my device groups and click the tickbox to mark as true instead of having to type. (my 13.4 version of mobicontrol doesn't let me set attributes to groups using API, well annoying!). Now to the problem (for those still reading) - my new profile applies with the criteria myAttrib = true, but the main profile DOES NOT apply with the criteria myAttrib = false !! This doesn't make any sense to me, I would assume that a boolean attribute unticked must equal false - so therefore device i didn't tick should have that profile, but it literally removed itself from over 6000 devices (which seeing as it was a kiosk mode profile, was officially a BAD THING). Am I misunderstanding something fundimental here, does anyone else using booleans in filter criteria have this issue?

Dashboard chart not showing custom attribute?

I defined 2 custom attributes for my devices, one of which being "Department" = the department that owns the device. This attribute is properly shown in the dashboard grid, but a 'chart' does not seem to take the name into account... everything is being reported as 'Unknown'?  Using SOTI MobiControl 14.2.1.4394 (on premise)
