1) When making changes to the SOTI Surf configuration at Profile level, the user sees a 'Configuration Updated' message asking them to relaunch the browser. With our current lockdown, this is not possible and we would expect that most users would end up being forced to reboot the device for the changes to take effect. I believe there was a Feature Request created for this under SB-4258, based on feedback that was provided when testing with SOTI Surf 14.2.0 Build 119

2) Custom Attributes. We currently have two potential use cases for SOTI Surf in a production environment, however a limitation of this browser for us is that the browser does not seem to support Custom Attributes (eg: Store Number 0001).

Does SOTI have any plans to enable the use of Custom Attributes within SOTI Surf Configure Home Screen URL? Alternatively, what are our current options for deploying 500 unique URL's via SOTI Surf where each targeted device requires a custom URL to be set as the home page?

Should I open a case to track this, in the meantime. Or will this be tracked internally @ SOTI?

Hello Gerald Gilmore ,

for issue 1, it seems to be a bug and we need to create an internal development ticket to resolve it. So, yes create a case for this and then it will be easy to track this.

For issue 2, A feature request has already been logged and this feature is currently planned for v15.0.0

Thanks. I just submitted a new case under C00308891. 

Any early indications as to when we can expect SOTI Surf v15.x? We would like to test this with Custom Attributes in a few different scenarios to confirm that it fits our current needs.

As per the July release notes for SOTI Surf, I installed SOTI Surf 14.3.2 Build 152 on a Zebra TC52 for testing purposes. 

The release notes documentation have an update, specific to changes being made to the lockdown profile:

However in my test cases, I'm seeing that the is still manual effort required to reload the specific experience. For example, within the lockdown profile, under SOTI Apps - SOTI Surf I change the 'Enable Home Screen' URL from http://www.google.ca to http://www.canadiantire.ca and the user is still required to manually close the application and relaunch it in order for the URL to change. 

My understanding of using SOTI Surf in Kiosk Mode is that any changes to the content would be seamless to the user, lets assume the user is a customer. 

In my tests within full Kiosk Mode, any changes I make require the user to reload the browser. 

Am I missing something here? Its seems unreasonable to expect a customer to relaunch an experience, in say a retail environment where targeting all devices at the same time is not possible (offline devices etc). 

Does SOTI have any suggestions? The quick and dirty answer for this still seems to include a reboot with the deployment package.
