Google Maps

JP

Occasionally, a couple of our T56s and T57s will ask for a Google account to use Google Maps even after they have been successfully able to use the maps for months at a time. Our only method of fixing these have been to have them factory reset but have seen the same ones come back some time later to have the same issue.

Is there a fix for this that we are unaware of? I assume it is an enrollment issue as I always thought that it pulls the Google account from the enrollment.

Do these devices have the automatically generated Google Service account active at the time that this occurs?

Yes they do. Usually a long string of numbers. Example below.

12345678901234567890@android-for-work-gserviceaccount

But when I go to the account it actually says no account on device. Not sure if that is intended or not.

If the account isn't showing on the device itself but is showing in MobiControl you could possibly try the Reset Account Device Action in MobiControl to re-initiate and refresh that on the device.

This is what I see under the account section. That action does not show in the list of actions available for this device.

Nevermind, I see that we are using an outdated version of Mobicontrol that does not use that feature.

Do we have any other recommendations for this issue? We still have random users pop up with this issue from time to time that require a complete new handheld to be sent out rebuilt from scratch.

To confirm, you are seeing the service account listed in MobiControl, but when this issue is experienced the account is not listed on the device itself when viewed in the Accounts section of the Settings app?

Yes that is correct. So when one of our drivers uses his handheld and tries to use Google Maps, it keeps prompting for a Google login.

Well then it sounds like you would need your SOTI MC environment to have the Reset Account option in order to be able to remedy that without doing a full re-enroll. Which might in turn, require you to upgrade your MC version.
