I just wanted to follow up on this thread to see if you were still experiencing issues with this? 

As Vivek has stated already, this error happens when the device loses connection with the Deployment Server, usually when it is in the process of sending some message. However, if you are experiencing these errors at an extreme frequency than you were used to previously, perhaps it may be worth opening a case with Support to troubleshoot potential fail-points (support@soti.net).

  1. You wanted to know why you are  getting the error: Error sending message (Error sending message (type=22), General communication error)
  2. This error message appears when MobiControl is in the process of sending actions like a script, file sync, package etc. down to the device and the device is not connected. Every device when connected to the server holds a socket connection in order to communicate.
  3. At certain intervals, the server pings the device to check if they are still online using that socket. Also, the server will use that socket to send any action to the device. If for any reason the server initializes a communication to send an action and notices the device is offline it will log that error and close the socket that was assigned to that device.
  4. The only way to "fix" the problem is to bring the device back online, this will happen as soon as the device gets connectivity and the agent automatically re-connects. If you notice this message while devices are online and checking in, please let me know and I will check your devices
