Honeywell CK65 upgrade to Android 10, apps showing uninstalled and lockdown applications not launching

Solved

Recently had a batch of Honeywell CK65's come in that were Android 10, up to this point we were using CK65's that were Android 9. It seems as though Honeywell has updated several internal components in the CK65's due to supply chain issues that don't allow you to downgrade to 9. So I'm looking to update all of our existing CK65's to 10.

I did a file sync of 90.00.12 and the update went off without an issue.
I came from 88.00.17 on my test unit.

After the reboot, I noticed two issues.
The first is that when I look at Applications under the device, they show as all of them being Uninstalled. With the one exception of the Honeywell UEMConnect software that's a mandatory installed application.

The second is with the Native Lockdown mode. None of the applications will fire off.
Until, I go into Administrative mode. If I just toggle between Administrative and then User. The applications will work. As soon as I reboot the device, the applications won't function until I bounce between Administrative mode and User mode. The two applications inparticular I've tested with are BasicTE and SmartTE(Staylinked).

We are also seeing this behavior. Same agent and plugin version.

Hi Jack,

we had the Same issue since a longer time on the Mobility Edge Devices with A10 & A11.

This will be fixed in the new Agent 15.1.3.

In the Menatime you can use this command to sent it to the Device via Script:

"refresh_installed_application_list"

That you are able to Launch the Applications create a Alert rule to the Devices.

Even when they connect to MobiControl send the script "notify kiosk on" to the Device.

Create an Alerts Rule:

Type: Device Event

Create Alert Rule: Device Connected -> Execute script on Device -> notify kisok on

So it looks like this resolved the application list. Unfortunately the bigger issue where the applications not opening seems to remain.

Hello JackRyan,

The issue was due to a conflict in Honeywell Firmware, should be resolved in our upcoming agent release 15.1.3 which Marcus noted.

Using activity suppression sometimes worked as a workaround.

Update to this. I was informed that I can downgrade to Android 9, specifically 88.00.18.
However it seems as though you cannot go below 90.00.11 on Android 10, or below 88.00.18 on Android 9.

Here are minimum versions for the more recently built CK65's.
Interestingly enough you can no longer download 90.00.11 on Honeywell's FTP, so the ONLY option for Android 10 is 90.00.12.

Hi Jack,

last Version what was working without any Commands in the Background was 90.00.06.

Maybe you try this Relase ;)

With 90.00.13/14 it will be also fixed. I havent seen a Version with 90.00.11.

So unfortunately, you can't use 90.00.06 with the newer sensors, per Honeywell. 90.00.11+ is the only option. I'll have to see if they have a .13 yet. I was able to do a rollback to 88.00.18, which is supported. This version did not experience the issue. So I at least have a fallback solution now.

I have 10 with 90.00.11 that were purchased about a month ago.
