The * or ? wildcard characters do not seem to work any more.  So, until a related feature request is raised and eventually fulfilled and included in future MobiControl releases, one workaround that can be used now is to put all the *.log files in a subdirectory "logs" on the device and modify the file-sync rule upload source directory to include this new sub-directory instead.
