APP wont install automatically

I have mobile devices already having MobiControl installed and working just fine.

We want to install a new app to our company devices.  We have added this new app into our Policies / Apps.  This is a mandatory app, App Store License, Accounts Is set to our applevl account and Device Based.  Automatic updates is selected.

I have added this new app to my Profile / Configurations / Application Run Control / Whitelist. Save and Assign.

When I look at a device name, Configurations the status shows Installed partially.  I guess this shows this way pending the new app install?  The app does not install automatically.  I do give this time to see if will auto install.  

If I revoke profile and then install profile, the new app will then download and install.

I do not want to have to revoke / install on all my devices.  Why does the app not download and install automatically?  What would be a fix for this.

Do you have access to the APK for the app that you want to install or is it a public app only in the Play Store? If you have the APK that you want to install then using a Package + Profile based installation of the app will be more instantaneous and give you more control over the scheduling of the install and future upgrades. If you are instead installing the app via Managed Google Play you are somewhat at the mercy of when Google Play decides its time to install that app on the device. There are a number of additional criteria that need to be met for the app to install through Google Play such as the device being idle and in a charging status. You may be able to circumvent some of these Google Play based app installation restrictions by setting the App installation priority to Mandatory in your App Policy. 

Edit: Missed that this was for iOS and not Android.

As you talk about apple device not android providing an app via package won't be possible (afaik) but via enterprise app policy.

Have you tried to send those devices a check-in after the app got assigned?

Hello,

Thank you for the information. 

We are able to access APK but as you mentioned, does not work with Apple. 

We use app from Play Store.  This app (all apps) are set to Mandatory in the Installation Options of the configuration when we add them.

I have sent the Check-in after the app was installed.  I did Check-in when I first added the app and noticed it was not downloading.  I did this process again just now to 4 of my devices that are plugged in and charging.  This did not work.  I turned the devices off for a few minutes, turn them back on and this did not work.  From mentioned above thread, I will leave these devices plugged in thru the holiday and see what happens when I come to work on Friday to see if after time the app downloads. 

Again, the only way I know to get the app to show is revoke / install thru configuration.

Hi guess we all agree that this shouldn't be something like expected behavior, so I recommend to reach out to Soti support to take a look into it in more detail.
