Permissions Popup

We are getting a popup on our scanners that reads "attention required please tap each item and proceed with the pending actions".  When this happens, the scanners stop connecting to MobiControl.   When we enter the admin credentials, we are prompted to grant SOTI permissions.  This happened all of a sudden on scanners we've been using for years.  Any idea what the root cause could be?

What are the model #s and how are they being managed? Are they Android Enterprise? These are devices that were in use and then spontaneously started prompting this, or these are new or repaired devices showing these prompts after initially staging them.

They are Android Enterprise. The models are MC9300 and VC8300.  They are all on Android 11.  The devices have all been in use and this all started spontaneously.

Spontaneous changes in the environment typically are the result of updates pushed from Google Play. Did your Agent recently get updated on these devices automatically from Play?

They are all running agent 15.1.0.1045.  The scanners don't connect to the Internet and we bypass GMS on setup.

What the popup message says, is it about AE binding or such?

I don't think so it just asks for permissions for Mobicontrol

I'm wondering, when you click on this as you said it requires password, and then what do you see on the screen, with permission it asks for again?

It's a lock screen so we can't click on the message until we enter the admin password to put the scanner in admin mode. We see an android permissions screen where we have to grant SOTI Mobicontrol permissions.

Are you deploying scripts including "writesecuresettings"?

ZEBRA devices cannot grant "Change System Settings" permissions silently for the MobiControl agent.

Thanks Scott we were not deploying any scripts.  It appears these were pop ups to grant notifications permissions for SOTI.

Agent Version: 15.4.5.1051

Thank you, what permissions was it requesting?  Are you using a lock screen?  Does anyone have expreience with this approach?  

Displaying Notifications for Lockdown Menu Items (soti.net)

I don't understand why scanners that were working for a couple of years suddenly needed additional permissions.
