How to handle Powerpoint (ppsx) files in lockdown mode

Hello, 

This might not be a problem directly related to SOTI Mobicontrol, but hopefully anyone else have expirenced a similar issue before and might have any thoughts on how to solve it. 

We using Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 tablets enrolled into SOTI Mobicontrol (15.5). We are running these tablets in lockdown mode where we have two different powerpoint files (ppsx files) that are stored locally on the tablet and opens via the File:// option . The problem is that once we end the presentation, we end up inside the Power point application, and we need to close down Power Point before the lockdown homepage is visible again.

So my question is, are there any tips & tricks that can be made so that after i end my power point presentation it takes me directly to the lockdown page instead of the Power Point application.

Alll ideas or tips are highly appreciated.

There's no possibility as far as i can see.
This would need to be something like an option set inside of the presentation during creation (or as an option inside of the presentation app itself) but there's no such option yet.

Checked also via identify_activity but the bundleID during presentation is still the same as when not presenting, so there's nothing i see where you can react on to "kill_application bundleid" or something like that.

Do you mean you cannot exit the Powerpoint apps by pressing the home or go-back soft button at the bottom?

I think he can but he don't want to.

I think he wants:
1. open the file via the shortcut on kiosk
2. do the presentation
3. at the end of the presentation "auto close" powerpoint app to be thrown back to the kiosk automatically

Hi Rafael,

You are correct, this is exactly what i want to achieve. These Samsung tablets will be handed out to our sell organization, to promote our products, and it don't look good when they need to exit power point before they get back to the kiosk home page.

It's pity that it doesn't seem to exist a good way to do this,so i guess we have to live with it.

But that's the normal behaviour.

For sure, on a PC/Laptop you can right click the file and choose "show" and it acts like you want but most of the people just doubleclick the file, so it's opened in powerpoint and starting the presentation from there which always mean to end up in powerpoint after the presentation again. Also you see then shortly the entire desktop, which is often quite less nice than to just shortly see powerpoint app itself.

Maybe you should just add a nice "final sheet" to show at the end and keep it open until all questions etc. are answered and disconnect the device from screenshare/beamer (or what ever you use) before closing the presentation itself at the end of the event.

As this seems to be expected behavior for your devices enrolled in MobiControl, perhaps you can raise a feature request with Soti Support on this issue if it is a major concern.
