apk intallation not working

Solved

Hi everyone,

i try to install some internal apk. on the SunMi V2s. (Android 11)

Unfortunately the installations keeps failing. On the app catalog I can see that it keeps trying to install it but it keeps failing.

I also use a Datalogic Memor 10, where it seems to be working just fine. (Android 10)

Installing the same apps without SOTI binding works just fine. The setting with the Datalogic and SunMi are almost identical.

thanks in advance

Have you checked DS/DSE log files, log tab of indidual device or device log file remotely dowmload from the device agent for entries that might help to pinpoint or narrow down the possible cause of the problem?

Is there similar problem for other apk file(s) on SunMi V2s and not on Datalogic Memor 10?

In the log it says that I should check the storage or permission, which i did. It is all allowed.

But Installing unknown apps for the SOTI Mobi Control App is disabled. The problem is that I can not enable it from the device becuase it is blocked by admin (me).

Where can I enable this setting from the MobiControl?

If the problem is related to violation of apps permission or evolving scoped storage model of different Android version, the same error can be observed when installation is done in device administrator mode.

Just send "Enter administrator mode" device action to the device and then go to Settings to enable "install unknown source" option in Apps tab, and tap on any .apk file icon in file browser/manager app to test if the apk app is compatible with the device model/firmware version.

In the worst case when the above doesn't work, just change the "install unknown source" option in feature-control profile payload to temporarily allow installing .apk file already copied onto the device file system.

as soon as the device entered Admin Mode it insalled the apps, even without changing any settings from my side on the device.

Also it did install all of the SunMi and Google internal Apps, all at once.

I need to find out what restriction did block the installation to prevent that in future times withou the Admin mode.

In addition to the question(s) from Raymond, does the apk install on an unmanaged Android 11 device?

yes, it does without any issues.

Did your SunMi V2s device had any kiosk/lockdown-menu or application-run-control policies deployed while the problematic apk installation was attempted?

There was no Kiosk mode on. But I deactivated the button "Deploy latest plugins to device".

I now tested it again with this button on, and now it seems to work just fine.

Thanks for you help Mr. Chan.
