Automate Data Usage Permission Popup?

Hi,

Just wondering if any one knows of a way to automate this pop up.

We have recently upgrade mobicontrol from v13.3 to v14.1 and are running a few test on our Android+ device and with each agent upgrade they user will get prompted with this pop-up.

Is there an automated or silent way to update the agent on user devices without having this pop up?

We currently have over 1700+ devices and having this pop up on everyone phone is not ideal when deploying across multiple cities.

Any help with he appreciated.

Hi Glen,

Unfortunately this message will pop up for all devices that are missing any sort of required permissions - this means that it is dependent on the device and if the permissions were previously granted or not.

It appears that the version you are upgrading from and to, requires new permissions in order to ensure you have full functionality; that means that you will likely have to address the pending actions on most and if not all of your devices.

This is the intended behaviour because MobiControl requires elevated privileges to the OS and device; this is also evident when you first install the agent and enroll the device when it prompts you to allow access to different features.

For these security reasons, you will have to grant these permissions manually which requires user input.

Regards,

- G

Hmmmm... That not ideal at all.

We did try pushing this out to 30 users and had about 75% of them call up about this pop up. Asking what it it, why does this app need this, to user claiming we are breaching their privacy and we are spying on them.....

I wonder if turning off our data collection will stop this pop up when updating the agent.

On another note, is there a way to turn off or hid 'Mobicontrol is running'  notification?

With new agent update, some phones (samsung A3) are now showing this notification on their notification bar (top) and lock screen permanently. is there a way to hid this?

On Android 8.0+ devices,  turning off 'Mobicontrol is running' notification seems to be possible by going to

Settings -> App Manager -> MobiControl -> App Notifications

and turning off the option "App Icon Badges".

Hmmm, option is available for Android 8.0+ but not for any other versions unfortunately.

Oh well, i guess it will be a reminder for users that the devices belong to the business and they should put too much personal stuff on them.

Quick Q, was the device reset and then had the Lockdown pushed to it?  usually the first time you do anything on an Android device over v. 6 - It will prompt you to Allow or Deny an action.  Could it be that the device hadn't completed those actions first and had the user input to click allow or Deny before the lockdown was implemented?    Just a thought...

devices was not reset. they were updated to latest mobicontrol version at the time.

Was a major move from v13 to v14 with existing devices in the field. All agreement were accepted in v13 at the time of issuing.

bit annoying as you now need to retouch all device or ask user to accept agreement, which is the problem as you can ask everyone to send back in their phone and/or trust uses to accept the agreement to monitor their phones. although its a company.
