WT6300 - View Devices/Remote

Hi -

1.When listing all devices within mobi control I have added in additional columns to view firmware version, lifeguard status, build version etc - a number of columns are showing as N/A do I need to enable an option on the devices to view these stats within soti? (device WT6300)

2. Remote access to WT6300 - when I remote to a device I cannot enter administrator mode? nothing happens when clicked on

3. The reason for wanting to enter admin mode remotely is to view sdcard/android/data files so I can edit files remotely , to edit the enterprise browser folder. I get a blank page at the moment.

Are all the devices enrolled and managed under Device Owner (Fully Managed)?

There are different issues you are looking at.

  1. "N/A" is shown if the column is not used by the device. Example: A mac will fill the manufacturer serial number but an android just shows n/a.
  2. There are minimum 4 ways to enter admin mode. Which one do you choose?
    1. Using legacy script (adminmode on)
    2. Using ... in remote control > Admin mode
    3. Using the command Enter Admin Mode in the console
    4. Open Mobicontrol app on the device and press long on Agent mode followed by the admin password
    5. In General: Did you assign the needed authentication profile which provides the admin password to the device?
  3. This is more likely a permission issue. Please try following script and take a look on the device if you get prompted to grant it:
request_appops_permission MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE

Hi, thanks for the response.

  1. That's a shame, could have been really useful.
  2. I am trying via.. in remote control > Admin mode How do I view the authentication profile/change the settings?
  3. I have tried the script and nothing appeared on the device. Do you know where I can edit permssions? Mobi control has all the options selected to allow admins full access?

2. Is a configuration profile you have to create and send to the device. As long this is not there, you are not able to use admin mode.

3. If nothing pops up, then the permissions should be given. Check if the folder is really not empty when looking into it via the phones file explorer

For your third problem, the cause is likely related to the tightened scoped-storage protection model of recent Android firmware versions.  See the Soti article  https://discussions.soti.net/articles/impact-of-android-11-scoped-storage-restrictions-on-android-agent for related details.

Some apps need to be recompiled from it souce codes with some permission related codes fine tuned before some data folder/files generated by the new app can be shared with other non-kernel apps such as Soti MobiControl device agent.

For the first problem, the value of some fields may be marked as not available even for bug-free MobiControl device agent under any of the following conditions:

1. The item is not relevant to the device hardware or to the modes configured

2. The item is relevant , but the firmware is designed by the OEM developer or by Google (The platform owner) to intentionally not returning such information to any non-kernel or non-targeted software/app modules

3. The item is relevant, and the information is allowed to be distributed, but the app (MobiControl device agent in this case) has not yet been granted by the device end-user  the relevant app permission(s) to read such information.

Please note that the condition for any particular item for the same device may change from time to time due to change(s) in any combination(s) of the above factors.
