HTML files not open automatically after the file is downloaded.

Solved

From the sales department, daily reports are sent to 120 stores that can view the PDF files via a Samsung TAB 7 and SOTI surf.
These files are offered on the tab via an app (Kega) and if a file is clicked on, it opens automatically immediately after downloading.

Now we also want to start using HTML files and also have them open automatically after the file is downloaded.

But when the tablet is in User mode this does not work.
If I put the tablet in Admin modes, it does open the HTML file immediately after downloading?

So it looks like a permissions problem because it does work under admin mode.
Where can I set these permissions correctly

Hi Arjan,

Did you download the file well, but only can't open it while it's on a user mode? if it's the case then:

Do you have any PDF viewer application added on your kiosk/lockdown screen. If not, for test purpose, you can duplicate the current kiosk profile and rename it, revoke the current profile from a test device only, and update the new profile by adding a PDF viewer app (that you use to open the PDF) on your lockdown screen. If this works, you can hide the PDF app on lockdown.

Hello Zafer,

yes the downloading is going well, only I can't open it in user mode.

In addition, we do already have a PFD viewer installed. because we already work with PDF files and they open just fine after downloading.
I now want to do this with HTML files as well

Hi Arjan,

What I was trying to mention above is, do you have any lockdown item for your PDF viewer on your lockdown profile settings; similar to below SS. If not, you can add your PDF app item on your lockdown item, similar to here on your test profile and then test again.

Yes i put it in already

Are HTML files assigned to be opened in this app or are they maybe linked to Chrome maybe?
Please check which app is used when you open them in user mode.
Also it could be that the app you use, use another app (could be part of the app installation) to display the files, so please check if there more apps installed after you installed this specific app.

Hi Arjan,

I just saw your reply now. I agree with Rafael. On admin mode you can open the PDF and while PDF is open you can send out legacy script to your device to check out the bundle ID of the current app and verify whether the PDF is opened with that PDF viewer application or not.

You can send out following legacy script, and monitor the output from MobiControl Webconsole -> Device Details -> Logs section

It worked out.   The extension .HTML was linked to Google and not the HTML Viewer and Google was blocked.

Changed this now.

In addition, apparently the HTML viewer was also incorrect.
Launch://com.android.htmlviewer
See previous screenshot that I had linked the wrong viewer.

Thanks for the responses
