Windows Modern App Catalog Non Admin Users

One of the features that was brought up by SOTI during our POC was the app catalog.  It was billed as similar to the app store in Intune.  However, now that we are trying to set it up, it appears that the only people that can use it are those with admin rights on the local machine.  If they have admin rights then they can install whatever they want, something that we are trying to get rid of.

So, question is, am I reading the documentation correctly, is the regular user unable to install from the App Catalog?

In the App Catalog of regular (i.e. Non-Administrator) local users of Windows Modern devices,  optional app items in MobiControl Apps policies are not displayed (and thus not installable by such user), and mandatory app items in similar MobiControl App policies should be silently pushed onto the device.

This is shown clearly in the app policy UI in the web-console.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for posting on SOTI Pulse. Thanks Raymond for responding to the post, your expertise and willingness to help are greatly appreciated!

Could you kindly let me know if your query has been resolved?

If not, as Raymond mentioned, the silent installation should proceed when the installation type is set to “Required for system.” Could you please confirm the installation type where you are encountering the issue?

Kind Regards,
