Solved

Hi,

MobiControl issue since upgrading:

I have downloaded Device Manager 4.0, I have tried to manually add the apk to a new app policy (selecting enterprise not google play as the app source) -  I receive the error:

You have selected a file with incorrect format. Please select another .apk file.

This issue has only started to occur since upgrading to Mobi ControlVersion: 15.6.5.1018

Im sure the apk is sound, I have the same issue when trying to upload Zebra apk's - has anyone else had this issue or do they have any work arounds.

We are also on latest version and still able to upload apk files to Soti using enterprise app policy.

Did you validate your apk file (https://developer.android.com/games/sdk/performance-tuner/custom-engine/validate-and-package)?

Maybe the checks in Mobicontrol if an apk file is fine have been changed and now your apk file is not longer valid but these are only guesses.

Which of the Zebra apk files are not working? I want to check this here.
I tested EHS from Zebra and it worked fine AFTER I copied it out of the zip archive which was downloaded (don't drag and drop from the zip archive directly, copy it to your local file system before!).

I have tested the below:

Enterprise Home Screen uploaded ok with no issues:

https://www.zebra.com/us/en/support-downloads/software/utilities/enterprise-home-screen.html

EHS_060009.zip (I did unzip and upload only the apk)

---------------

The below apk's failed:
Enterprise Browser Signed

https://www.zebra.com/us/en/support-downloads/software/developer-tools/enterprise-browser.html

EnterpriseBrowser_signed_3.5.0.7.apk

and

Device Central

https://www.zebra.com/us/en/support-downloads/software/utilities/device-central.html

DeviceCentral_4.0.apk

Interesting, same here.

So i recommend to open a case at Soti or maybe with Zebra first to clarify if they have to align something or if you need both for clarification.

Btw.: Zebra Enterprise Browser can also be found in the playstore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zebra.mdna.enterprisebrowser&gl=DE

I would not recommend using Play Store to install mission critical apps like Enterprise Browser on mission critical devices. The only reason is it in Play Store in the first place is to enable less capable AMAPI aligned EMMs like Intune to be able to "distribute" ZEB to devices under management. If you have an EMM like SOTI that can install LoB apps like ZEB directly to devices with full version control then I recommend taking advantage of this capability. I agree with researching why the APK upload is not working on the MC version, I disagree with recommending a switch to a public play store hosted version of the app as an alternative however.

It was just a hint, i fully agree to that @Matt.

Just to ensure they can check the versions and if it's working or lookup differences between the apk's.

Hi - I still have a ticket open with Soti and Zebra, the dev engineers are working together to find a resolution, however this is taking a very long time. Probably best to raise a ticket with both teams.
