How come html 5 remote control only works on Windows 2012 or higher and not on Windows 2008 or Windows 7?
There is a file in windows called http.sys, it is a driver file for handling web connections for IIS and web services powered by .NET framework. We don’t use IIS but we do use .NET Framework, so the MobiControl management service (and the SOTI Assist service) relies on this file to function.
This file in Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 is not advanced enough to handle web connections that handle RC over HTML5. Only the http.sys file that was introduced by Microsoft in Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8 is advanced enough to handle the RC web connections.
