Configuring Data Collection Settings in SOTI XSight

For customers who require a less aggressive collection frequency or have specific requirements for when data needs to be collected, for example, only on Wi-Fi.

The data delivery window settings can be modified globally and the data collection mode at the profile level in SOTI XSight 2024 and later. In previous versions of the product, both options were present in the Analysis profile. 

Data Collection Settings

1. From the main menu, select Settings.

2. Select Data Collection. 

3. This section contains two settings to configure: Data Delivery and Data Delivery Window Size.

Data delivery shows how frequently the data is sent from the SOTI XSight agent on the device to the SOTI XSight server. The Data Delivery Window size specifies the grace period during which the SOTI XSight agent can send data to the server after a scheduled delivery time.

The default time for the delivery window is every three hours, and the delivery window size is one hour. After the SOTI XSight agent is deployed for the first time, it is necessary to wait at least 4 hours for data to be available in the dashboard if these settings are left as default.

Profile Data Collection Settings

1. From the main menu select Operational Intelligence.

2. Select a Profile and select the plus icon in the blue circle to create a new analysis profile or edit an existing one.

3. Enter the required information under the General, Assignment, and Permissions tabs before moving to the data collection tab.

4. Under Data Collection, there are two types of settings to configure for Profile: Collection Mode and Data Upload.

These settings show how frequently data is collected on the device and how the SOTI XSight Agent is allowed to send data to the SOTI XSight server.

5. Configure the Watchlist as required and select Save.
