Situation

Include the chat component to enable Live Support for end-user communication as needed. Conversely, if Live Support is not required, the SOTI XSight administrator may choose to exclude this component and deploy only the SOTI XSight agent.

Environment

This process applies to SOTI XSight 2024.0.2 and later.

Process Description

Publishing the SOTI XSight Agent

1. Navigate to the SOTI XSight console and locate the SOTI XSight icon in the top left corner.

2. Select the SOTI XSight icon to reveal a dropdown menu and select Generate XSight Agent.

3. Choose the appropriate platform and SOTI XSight agent version.

4. Add a description.

5. Choose the appropriate instance (typically the default instance from the dropdown menu).

6.  Enable or disable the "Include Chat Agent"  toggle as required:

  • Toggle off: Only the SOTI XSight agent will be deployed to devices. The SOTI XSight Live Support functionality will not be available. Data collection for Operational Intelligence will not be affected.

  • Toggle on: The SOTI XSight agent and the chat component will be published on the same package. After being deployed to devices, the Live Support functionality will be enabled, allowing communication with end users.

7. Select the Publish button.

8. Navigate to SOTI MobiControl, create a profile to include the recently published package, and deploy it to devices.
