Summary

As of MobiControl 14.3.0, you can manage Zebra RFID readers FX7500/9600. The enrolment of the RFID readers used to be a complex process as the user had to interact with the three applications (MobiControl Web Console,  Device Console, a file transfer utility). Average enrolment time was 4 minutes.

Now SOTI has come up with a Windows desktop utility for mass enrolment of Zebra RFID readers. It reduces the average installation time to a few seconds!

Process Description

As of MobiControl 14.3.0, you can manage Zebra RFID readers FX7500/9600. The enrolment of the RFID readers used to be a complex process as the user had to interact with the three applications (MobiControl Web Console,  Device Console, a file transfer utility). Average enrolment time was 4 minutes.

Now SOTI has come up with a Windows desktop utility for mass enrolment of Zebra RFID readers. It reduces the average installation time to a few seconds!

Prerequisite:  Utility should be run from the same network where the RFID devices are based.

Use the following steps to enroll multiple RFID devices:

  • Create an Add Device Rule and download MCSetup.ini from Add Device Rule.
  • Create a list of all devices which you intend to enroll into MobiControl in CSV format (Download the sample format from Utility).  In the list the following device information needs to be captured: Device IP Address, Username (admin), Password.
  • Open the unzipped utility folder and click on MobiControl executable.
  • Copy the following Zebra Agent link to download the agent.

  • Click on Next, Upload MCsetup.ini and the device list.
  • User can select Autostart checkbox, if the user wants to Auto-start of the application after device reboot
  • User can select Start checkbox, if the user wants to start the application just after successful installation
  • Click Install, the user would be shown the status of installation of each device, after a gap 1-2 minutes.
  • Once the user can see the final installation status, the user can close the screen.

Troubleshooting: In case installation fails for any device, look into error message on the status screen. For a detailed error messages, you can see log.txt which gets created in the utility folder.
