Process Description
SOTI MobiControl customers can manage fixed RFID readers Zebra Fx7500 and Fx9600 that run on the device firmware versions 3.7.26 and 3.8.22.
Feature Highlights
Device Monitoring
The SOTI MobiControl console provides access to the various device properties that had been captured either as a standard device information (such as the available storage, available memory, and IP address) or as custom data. You can fetch custom data via the integrated device APIs. For more information, see this article. You can also capture the following types of custom data from the device:
- INI File: captures data from .ini files
- Text: captures lines from text files
- Stdout: captures script output
Based on the device properties or events, SOTI MobiControl can generate alerts or perform actions on devices using alert rules. SOTI MobiControl can collect the required data using data collection rules.
Remote Management
SOTI MobiControl provides access to SSH terminals from any network. This requires neither download nor installation. You can execute scripts to perform device action remotely. You can also access the device’s web console remotely via MobiControl Web Remote Control console. This overcomes the common impediment of needing to be on the same network as the device to access its web console.
Package Deployment
You can deploy packages to devices. A package can include application installers as well as normal files. If an application or an XML-based device configuration is sent via package, it is installed silently, without manual intervention. Along with the package, you can execute pre and post-installation scripts (before and after the package deployment).
Firmware Upgrade
You can upgrade a device’s firmware via SOTI MobiControl. See this article for details.
File Transfer
File sync rules allow you to exchange and synchronize files between your devices and a server.
Remote Device Actions
You can restart a device using the Soft Reset action on the device. You can also execute scripts using the Send Script action.
Reporting
SOTI MobiControl provides an extensive range of device and system reports that help you analyze your SOTI MobiControl deployment. The default reports cover many aspects of SOTI MobiControl, including device status and information, deployment server status and information, and some administrative topics.
Zebra RFID Enrollment Utility
You can use this Windows desktop-based utility for concurrent mass-enrollment of Zebra RFID devices. See this for more information.
