Hello everyone, I encounter some issue (as some of you I have seen!) regarding the deployment of an APK on a AEDO device. The profile stay in a "Install Failed" status (Failed to Install (File I/O Error)). On the device I have the following message from the Google Play Protect : If I click on "INSTALL ANYWAY" the app is correctly installed. If I deploy a FC profile with the "Disable verivy apps enforcement" feature : I am able to manually disable the GPP Scan : This is the same thing / result as if I sent the following script on the device : writesecureprofstring DeviceFeature DisableVerifyApps 1apply featurecontrol If I manually disable the "Scan device for security threats" option, I can deploy my APK via my profile without any problems. Also, I am able to install my APK directly on the device from a USB driver for example. Question : Is there a way to disable the "Scan device for security threats" with a script or a trick ? For now, the solution is to blacklist Google Play via an App run control profile. But I use a managed Google Play store and I need Google Play on the device... The complete solution would therefore be : 1/ Deploy App Run Control profile 2/ Deploy APK 3/ Revoke App Run Control profile Quite tedious.... Thank you !
Hi, A customer of ours is using an application that is downloaded from the Google Play Store through the Application Catalog. When the application has a new version, the developers are making use of the in-app update API where it prompts the user the update the application now or wait until later. The problem is that if the user presses the update button, they are taken to the Google Play Store where they can download any application they want. I can't blacklist the Play Store as we do want the applications to auto update when the Play Store does so, I just need to be able to stop the application presenting the prompt. I've done some research and I don't think it's possible to suppress this or block it completely but if anyone can suggest anything to try I'd appreciate the help. Thanks Josh.
So I can't figure out how to get our app to auto upgrade on kiosk devices. I've got a Google Play store page set up for a private app, and I'm able to issue upgrades through the play store page. Next, I have to go into the mobicontrol cloud and update the application catalog, which isn't ideal, but whatever, I can deal with that, but after updating the application catalog, none of our devices will download the upgrade. The only way I've been able to get devices to upgrade is to remote control into the device in Admin mode, go into the application catalog in the DPC and upgrade the app. Moreover, there seems to be a bug with this scenario because after I upgrade the app with these steps, when I go to set the device back into User mode, the app will be uninstalled! I then have to re-install the latest app and then I will be able to set the device back into User mode. I've asked a sales engineer that has been helping me out some, but he's not very responsive and hasn't provided any information on how to get the app to auto upgrade. There was a Droidcon Berlin talk just last week I think about setting devices up in kiosk mode and through their own setup they were able to get apps to auto upgrade, plsu they were also able to use the test tracks in the Google Play Store. I've been trying to use the test tracks of the private google play store app for a while but Soti doesn't have any information about that either, and that probably deserves another question, but I know it's doable and getting the app to upgrade should also be possible. Is it possible to get these private apps to auto upgrade without having to log into each one and manually doing it? Thanks,
Good Afternoon, I'm looking to set the Home & Lock Screen of our Android 9.0 devices running MobiControl v13.7.3.1045 with a script. So far I've been able to configure the lock screen using the script below but I am struggling to find a script that will set the homescreen as well. writeprivateprofstring LockscreenOverlay WallpaperPath "%sdcard%image.jpg"apply LockscreenOverlay In the documentation for the writeprivateprofstring command the syntax is as follows: writeprivateprofstring section [key] [value]Where the section is the name of the section in the .ini file to which the value will be written. If the section does not exist, it will be created. The name of the section is case-sensitive.Where can I find the .ini file that has all the values I can modifying using the writeprivateprofstring command?Regards,Johnathon
Hello, Is there anyway to force sotisurf to open pages as desktop site. i notice the options is there when in sotisurf but i cannot find it anywhere in the mobicontrol web console
Dear all, we are using currently some Outform test devices in SOTI. (With Android 5.1) How do we get out of the Kisok mode directly on the device? To give in the Administrator password directly. Thank you in advance.
Hi, We're have this issue occurring on a Honeywell CT60, its running in lockdown mode with Soti Surf 14.4 as the only accessible application. Whenever its placed into a dock or removed from it Soti Surf reloads and then the soft keyboard starts appearing over top of text inputs. The only way to get it to function normally where the text input moves up when the soft keyboard opens is to close then reopen Soti Surf. I've updated Soti Surf and the devices firmware but this issue still occurs, and I cant see any settings for Soti Surf or the device that would cause this. I'm not to sure if this is an Android thing or a Soti Surf issue, as this problem does not occur when using Chromium. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,Matt
In Android 10, various privacy restrictions are in place which will prevent apps from retreiving IMEI or serial numbers. I'm just being curious here: Will MobiControl still be able to get data like this? I'm guessing it will, after being given permission by the user, but only because the app will then be given system rights or something? Will the device owner/device administrator role still be applicable?
Good Day I want to update an APK package to only one group of mobile devices ( Only for one branch with the test APK) How can i do it via SOTI MobiControl
Hi all, We have around 100 Zebra TC20 and TC51 devices enrolled into SOTI Cloud, enrolled into our MDM using afw#mobicontrol. The application in question installs perfectly, I deploy it with a pre-install script which removes any old versions and this works as expected. The application launches and allows you to register the app with a QR code. The QR codes are required to register the device to a physical business site. Within the application there is a "RESET App" option, which clears the cache and allows the app on next launch to re-register using the QR code method to another site. Here's the issue we are experiencing: We enrol the device into SOTI The app is installed Launch app Scan QR code and register to SITE1 Reset the app using the settings “RESET App” button, The app relaunches straight back into SITE1 and begins the database download again. Reboot the device Launch the app The app launches straight back into SITE1 and begins the database download again. Reset the app using the settings “RESET App” button, The app relaunches straight back into SITE1 and begins the database download again. Re-install the app Launch the app The app allows us to register the app again using a QR code. If I try a manual wipe whilst on the MDM Settings->Apps->!D Cloud->Storage and press 'Clear Data' it takes me back into the site which the device was last registered to. If I take it off our MDM and uninstall the agent: Unenroll the device from SOTI Uninstall the MobiControl MDM agent Install the app using the same .apk that is in the package Launch app Scan QR code and register to SITE1 Reset the app using the settings “RESET App” button, The app resets and allows us to scan a QR code Scan QR code and register to SITE2 It appears to be the MDM agent which is causing the issue from what I can see. Removing and re-installing the app fixes the issue, however, this is not a feasible solution as our estate grows. I'm wondering if there's anyone that has seen this issue or something like it before? Is there any locations with permissions I can manually change to fix this? Thanks Rob
We've received a number of reports of people losing their email configuration on Android Enterprise enrolled devices. This only seems to be occurring when their password is changed, to resolve the issue we have to revoke the Exchange ActiveSync policy from the device via MobiControl and them install again, which then prompts them to input their email address, username and finally password within the Gmail app. We mainly use Samsung Galaxy A20e devices throughout but there are some legacy devices still in circulation. Any advise to stop this happening will be very useful. Thanks in advanced.
Hello. I am trying to install Soti Agent on my Lenovo Yoga Book (Android 7). After the default recovery, when prompted to add a Google account, I am entering afw#mobicontrol and I receive the message "Couldn't find your Google account". Why can this be? Thanks in advance.
Hi all - newbie to SOTI here. I'm trying to move the apps that are currently packaged and deployed to devices to syncing them with the Application Catalog/Google Play store. I'm doing some testing on our dev instance but doesn't seem to be working. The apps (Google Photos and Inkling) show up in the application catalog within Mobicontrol as an available app on the device but will not install. Is there a setting I'm missing? My SOTI-fu is not strong yet so apologies if I missed a previous post that answered this.
Is there a report which shows Android Security Patch Level per device in MobiControl v13.4.0.5389?
Hello, i just wanted to ask if there is a possible way to force the managed devices to use a proxy server or a proxy autoconfig url.Does anyone know something about this topic? Thanks in Advance.Kind RegardsAlex
